Unfortunately, mose people don't care to hear this - they want ooh-rahs and glorious wars because our oh-so duly-elected leaders have told them it is manly and patriotic to support the war effort (fighting in it is optional, especially if you've "got better things to do").

"Lonely outpost in a hostile land" is generally official response..

I think perhaps.."Gods chosen people/land"..to not help defend her would be sacrilege.

Not neccessarily MY belief, you understand..people sticking knives in our backs gets my attention right away

Ron Paul doesnt address two major foreign policy victories. North Korea and Libya.
Ron Paul is delusional when it comes to national security and foreign policy. He thinks the world is still flat.
I havent spent much time talking about Ron Paul and I wont spend anymore time talking about him because he has no chance of winning and most of his ideas are stupid.
I'm sure he would welcome your donations though :)

There are times I'm frustrated by my fellow man. You boys on both sides have got this thing wrong. You've allowed your personal politics to interfere with what's really happening.

First the politics. We have way too much. None of our politicians get a whole lot of respect from me. Too many divorces, too much egotism, too many excesses of all kinds. That, and no matter how well educated, politicians are almost universally stupid! Perhaps worst of all is that politicians always seem think they know more than the general population.

Intervention abroad? Our forefathers warned against it, but Marines had to fight in Tripoli because of the Barbary pirates and their ilk. Does anyone argue that we had to do it? Perhaps it might be better said that we should exercise great care in proactive involvement in other countries and their affairs, not that we should never act.

Which brings to point... Ben Laden and his crew are not at war with just the US government. They're at war with you and with me. Their stated goal is world conversion to Islam by whatever means necessary. What do any of you not understand about this?

You and I were attacked on 9/11. This wasn't an impersonal attack on a military installation. It was a personal attack on every citizen of the USA! Don't you get it? Don't you realize that there is no alternative but to crush this movement for our very survival? Just what part of dead don't you understand, because dead is what Ben Laden wants for each of us right down to the last!

When one is called out to a gunfight and there remains no choice but to go, a decision has to be made. The decision being whether to kill in order to avoid being killed, or to allow your opponent to have his way.

I would suggest that there might be some wisdom in taking the fight to your opponent. I might suggest that hitting him first and with everything available might be the best way to save your own skin. I'd further suggest that any normal person would and should take action.

Allow me to take my argument to a governmental level. As citizens our universal answer to an attack from the outside is our military. I believe that our government is correct in taking action against those who would delight in our demise. This is at least one of the things George Bush remembered about his oath as president.

My disappointment is in the running of this show by our esteemed government officials. I'd think that an order would have been given to eradicate our enemy and another to inform us of when the mission had been accomplished. Details should have been left to God and the military.

Allowing personal politics to blind us to the real danger is a colossal mistake. Sniping at each outer while the real danger is ignored is plain stupid! Political correctness has "politics" within the definition. Perhaps we should concern ourselves more with mere survival.

Had we declared all-out war against the enemy, the president would have had my complete support..assuming that the military was turned loose to do what they do best.

The president lost me when a week after 9/11 he invited me to go to the mall and spend money.

He further lost me when Bin Laden became 'irrelevant'...when Marines are murdered by 'civilians' out of that crowd over there..then the survivors are tried for war crimes.

I realized quite early that this man had no guts to fight a war..and it would be better to not go beyond Afghanistan.

What is this 9/11 BS. You people are pathetic, using the deaths of 2,000 people to justify a stupid policy.

Afghanistan lent support to those who were behind 9/11, and Afghanistan was invaded with bascially unanimous support.

Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11, and that is the real issue here. Ron Paul voted against going into Iraq, for the reasons stated here.
It is another american military occupation of muslim lands.
I think anyone would agree we have an unproportionatly strong military presence in "muslim" lands- this may be just a coincidence because they have oil, and have nothing to do with religion, but given our support for Israel (why did we just give them another 20 billion in military aid?), and other policies, it is easy to see how the muslims see us as out to destroy Islam.

They attack us because we aren't Muslim? then why don't they attack Canada, or China, or Cuba?

Almost every religious person wants to spread their religion to the world. Their goal of worldwide conversion to Islam is not the reason that the US was attacked, it is because we are sticking our nose where it has no right to be.

    Can't disagree with that. Anyway...

You are correct, Bin Laden wants us ALL dead. The way this war is being fought though, is resulting in all muslims wanting us dead, not just the fringe lunatics. We went to IRAQ to take out Saddam for the attempt he made on daddy Bush, that is all. This is such BS.
