I guess I have a different outlook on this than some.
Sure I will catch "flak" over my statement also.
If you are a rancher, or in any form of agriculture, I can totally understand wanting to see them gone from your property.
But I do not agree with allowing a species, no matter what they are, to become extinct, simply because some "numbnutts" may stick their foot into a gopher hole, and break their ankle.
We even have gophers in good old Florida,......occasionally I get the mounds on my property also.
I am just not dumb enough to step right in the middle of a 1.5 foot mound of dirt,.......here they could be fire ants![}:)]
We all share the planet with God's creatures, and I believe they are part of the food chain that is necessary for life.
Mess with stuff too much, for the individual needs of "humans", and I believe there may be a price to pay down the road.
What if here, every shark was killed just because it "may" harm a human at some point?
These are creatures that have been around far longer than us, and why do humans think we can turn the oceans into our swimming pools.
Same thing for predators,......they were put here, or "evolved" based upon your personal beliefs, for a purpose.
Whether you believe in God, as I do,.....or in evolution, these species exist for a reason. They are not there just for the purpose of "bugging" you.
How many humans bug you?
Won't go any further with that thought process, but you get my drift.
If something is interfering with your livelihood, or presenting an immenent danger to you, or your family,........kill it.
Just don't forget what would happen if nothing is left alive on this planet, for the "convenience" of humans.0 -

Well said,
if these things get listed the farmers could face jail time for killing them, they could also lose the right to make improvments on the property. municipalities wouldnt be able to poison them. DIA airport in Denver would lose the use of its runways. they have vacumed the little critters up for yrs just to keep them off the runways. Bad deal for all.
some, older members can prolly remember the listing of the gunnison sage grouse. That closed or limited access to alot of public lands. Private land ownners lost the right to build on their poperty because it was deemed "Sage Grouse Habitat"0 -

The government seems to never use "common sense".
I totally understand your part of the issue BTW![;)]0 -
It's all your fault.[;)] 0 -

When they "relocate" prairie rats by vacuum extraction, they have been used to FEED black footed ferrets. Farmers would be forbidden to "make improvements" ??? Try prevented from plowing. When I lived in Douglas Co. CO, there was discussion of naming the Preble's Meadow Jumping Mouse as "threatened". All of us in that area went out and bought a cat! What ever happened to that part of the constitution that talked about "taking" of property without compensation ??? 0 -
Prairie dogs? Extinct? This is pathetic. They are in absolutely no danger of that. These people who propagate this garbage either need to get a real job, or stop wasting oxygen. 0
