HELP - Name of movie Thanks NUNN!

Can anyone remember seeing a movie that had a black guy (Sidney Potier, I think) that was left as a survivor after a nuclear attack with a white woman in New York city. I think it was made in the late 50's or early 60's. I tried a search but came up empty.[:(] This new movie thats out reminded me of it.

    No neither of those are it, as there were basically only two people in the movie. I could be wrong about Sidney but I am really sure about the circumstances, that being that they may have to carry on the human race, a subject that was tabu at the time.

    On the Beach was an apocalyptic movie about that time, but I don't think it's the one you're talking about.

    The World, The Flesh, And The Devil. And it wasn't Sidney Poitier. The male lead was Harry Belafonte.

    Thanks NUNN it was driving me F#$%#@&g nuts!!! I told the guys at work (all Younger) that most of the movies made today are in some way remakes of older movies. Just old enough that anyone seeing them wouldnt be able to remember the original.

    The movie is "The World, the Flesh and the Devil".
    Poitier was the star.

    ...you're definitely talking about the gripping and compelling, tension-filled sci-fi/drama from 1959, entitled "The World, the Flesh and the Devil"; however, it's not Ingrim Bergman that you're thinking about. It's actually actress Inger Stevens, [red]starring along side Sidney Poitier and Mel Ferrer...

    ...unfortunately, this film has yet to see release on DVD, and never was released on tape; until such time as this happens, we are just going have to contend with the periodic broadcast of the film on Turner Classic Movies (...this has been on my 'want' list for years!!!)

    Well, I saw that movie a long time ago, and I thought the male lead was Poitier, but IMDB said the lead was Belafonte. I guess IMDB can be wrong, hunh?

    Thanks Fishlover but Nunn is totally correct. After his enlightenment I checked it out on IMBD and he was spot on, saving me from a sleepless night. Thanks to all that replied so quickly.
