may have broke my right arm

cowdoc
was working cattle today.....was folding up portable working coral
i was chaining up one section dad and brother was folding in another section while i had my arm in a bad pinch point where one section pivots to near zero clearance while they had 25' of leverage with panels.....that was this morning proceeded to work another bunch of cattle then went to swath millet....came home and my wife thinks she needs to drag me fifty miles to doctor....told her i wasn't going....i don't think it is broke...but severly bruised, my hand and fingers are swelled up and also arm below where it was pinched and hurts like a b a s tard .....i typed this all left handed not to bad i say....don't know how many minutes it took to type this..

    Can you move your fingers? Can you turn your wrist like you are shaking a bottle? If you can't then it is definitely broken. If it is the swelling that hurts then you most likely pinched an artery. I've done that before. Eventually with the blood going in, but not coming out so good your finger tips will start turning black and heading toward gangrene. You may think it hurts now, but wait a few days and you'll experience the perfect pain as the tissue is starved for oxygen and dies while the nerves are fully functional. I hate going to doctors, but I did. Waiting cost me a hunk of meat out of my leg that will never come back and I had to choose between three weeks in bed with maxed out blood thinners followed by two years of rehab or amputation. They said if I had waited another 24hrs they would have had no choice but to cut off my leg. You can do what you want, I'm just telling you my experience.

    bdj i have been watching it close sofar still has good color not turning black and blue.....pry will go to clinic here in town in the morning...i guess.....i can move fingers and ect....hurts pretty good though.

    No need to go to the doctor, you are tough, you can take it (stupid helps here too). If it starts to rot, you can just chew it off.

    Dude, being a person who was forced to NOT see a proper doctor until 3 days after my injury, and now not knowing how much better things could be, take the advice of the forum. Don't be a freaking hero. The lifelong use of your arm is in question.

    its not broke....didn't figure it was seen the doc about 1 this afternoon.....made wife happy...still pretty damn sore this evening but is much better than even this morning.....i knew enough to watch for signs of poor or no circulation which i didn't see....I am kinda a tuff SOB....can't be layed up this time of year anyways got lot of millet to combine,winter wheat to plant...ect ect ect.[;)]

    The PA told me to come back if anything seems to be not going right with a smile knowing she was wasting her breath telling me that[:D]

    Some extra bloodthinners might be adviceable...The acetylsalicyl stuff like... (what u have over there ?) Magnecyl or Asperin.....
    OR drink some [;)] and drink some every day for a week or so (around the clock) But just some HUH...Dont let it become to enjoyable....
