Must have raised them right
Well maybe their mama did. We were having a family meeting after dinner as we are in the habit of doing. The topic of conversation was where to go for our next vacation. Kids all said they wanted to go to Miss,LA, or AL and help rebuild a house for a Katrina family.
"Fine with me" I said. "I'll call the relief folks and see if they have room in the tents for us all."
"Tents" they asked?
" Oh sure, we stay in a big tent and eat in a chow line just like the prisoners on the county work farm. We get to bath in a bucket with a sponge and spend the day sweating like pigs on a spit, dodging bugs the size of Buicks. At the end of each day we get to go back to our tents to check each other for chiggers, lice and ticks before covering ourselves in bugspray to ward off the birdsized mosquitoes that come at night to suck you dry. It'll be great!"
"Uh, Papa, maybe we could just send them a check and go to the mountains again?"
"You mean the place on the river where I spend the entire time with a flyrod in one hand and a cold beer in the other? Yeah, I suppose we could go there again."

No, no, I think it's only righteous to help - selflessly - be a good model for your children.
Donate your fishing gear to the homeless and let them feed their families.
