    Ok, who has a S&W M&P compact in either 9m or 40 S&W?

The fellows at the local gun shop strongly advise against them and promote Glocks and XD's.

I thought the American made S&W M&P series of pistols were supposed to be tops in quality, fit, performance and acurracy.

Any real life experiences other than the local bench monkey opinions?

I finally put some rounds thru my new mp 40c. Put 200+ rounds in it and not one problem. Shoots great and feels great. Wife took a pic with phone not the greatest but pretty cool.

i had the M&P 40 compact i put app 700 rounds thru it and then the magazine kept dissengaging from the grip. not just one magazine but all 4. i sent it back to the factory, where they repaired it. no problem since then, but if something that simple will fail, what else is next?

also, i learned later that this magazine problem seems to be common with the m&p, not certain if it is with the entire line or just the .40. hope this helped.

A couple months ago I was searching for a new carry gun. I shortened my list to 2, the M&P and The XD.

After reading the reports of the mag dropping problems I bought the XD. Plus the fact that Crimson Trace is releasing a laser grip for the XD, but no plans for the M&P Compact model.

You can search for more info here: http://mp-pistol.com/boards/

If I remember correctly S&W really hasn't fixed the mag drop problem. They have installed new mag disconnects but people still seem to be having problems.
