I have question for those who choose to carry a handgun.

Did you buy a gun that was suited to your style of clothing or did you change your style of clothing to better suit the type of gun you wanted to carry?

    I'm a retrosexual, so I tend to fit the gun to the clothing rather than shopping for clothes. [;)]

    I'm a shorts, t-shirt, and flip-flop type of guy, so I bought the gun to fit my clothing style. A Kel-Tec P3AT in a wallet holster. I carry it all the time.

    Both. I have various holsters - pocket, belt, deep - for each gun I own and I will opt to carry one gun over the other and in a different fashion, depending upon my specific dress, day's destinations and planned activities for the day. Being properly armed, physically comfortable and not printing through my clothes or being "made" are more important to me than caliber or capacity. Just my take on it.

    I'm curious if anyone on here wears a "fanny pack" in order to carry a full-size weapon...

    I never could bring myself to wear one. When I see someone out in public wearing one (depending on what the guy looks like) my mind screams "Gun!" or "Homo!".

    Now that I think about it, it could be both......[:D]

    No, IMO, a dead giveaway and not feasible unless you're hiking or boating, etc. I'm a stout, thick burly guy and a fanny pack would look absolutely absurd - and probably obvious - bouncing up and down off of my hips, butt or belly. Maybe the skinny guys can get away with one but not me for sure.

    I have been known to carry a 4" 629 in a big fanny pack.

    I don't really care if I'm made, or if the weapon prints.

    I'd carry it strapped to my leg, if it was legal,

    Open carry is perfectly legal in many states.

    Fanny packs scream one of two things.....Tourist(if you live in a tourism town) or HANDGUN!

    Personally, I suit my style and choice of carry to the clothes that I'm wearing and the weather for the day.

    I carry either a full size CZ, compact Taurus, or Subcompact Keltec. It all depends on the weather and clothes that I wear.

    Unless you live somewhere that is 60 degrees or cooler all day everyday at some point you are going to have to adapt your gun to your clothing or you will stop carrying regularly. I love my Keltec P3AT. I carry it in a wallet holster all day everyday and never even think of leaving it behind. I used to carry a full size auto and was constantly having to justify whether or not I needed to bring it with me. In my opinion if your concealment method is obvious or prints you aren't doing yourself any favors. Surprise is one of the good guys most powerful weapons.

    I adjust my gun to my clothing.

    I just bought a small taurus 38 snubbie for this reason. And will probly also be getting a Keltec too.

And I am not a tourist and only on a few occasions have I put a revolver in it on the way to the range to do some plinking. It is kind of wierd to think that people seeing with my fanny pack thinking that I am a tourist or that I am packin' heat![V][V]

    Unlike a chubster like me, you probably carry the pack against your body very well and it blends in to where it's not all that noticeable. With my body style, I'd look laughable for sure. But I do agree that in many instances, a guy walking around with a fanny pack flopping around his waist does give the outward impression that he's a tourist or possibly carrying a gun. My home town, Scottsdale, is a very big tourist town and I see tourist folks with them and a camera around their neck all the time. Now, if I see a deliveryperson or contractor wearing one, I think "gun". And it's all okay no matter what you or I choose to carry in or with. [^]

    My little, light Kel-Tec 380 cal fits in any pants pocket or jacket pocket and gives me some level of comfort! I would rather have a 45 acp but they are too heavy for street carry and I don't hang out in areas that I consider high risk.

    If I were to carry a gun, I'd carry the same gun the same way every day. A S&W 60-9 (J frame) .357 with bobbed hammer and S&W trigger job in a homemade copy of a Triple K pocket holster.

    Yes, it is true. Every one I know just assumes GUN, whenever they see anyone wearing one of them.

    I usually adjust clothing to my standby carry modes. IWB back of right hip....that's why my shirt is seldom tucked in. Shorts and tank top or shirtless is an exception. Tomcat in wallet holster in back pocket, OR the dreaded fannypack.

    If you are going to carry a gun for other than ego satisfaction purposes, it is important to carry the same one consistantly. It becomes a habit and "feels" right, something that just does not happen when one day it's a full size SA, another day it's a 380, third day it's a revolver, etc. If you ever need to use it, you aren't going to have the time to think about where you are packing it that day or how today's gun works.

    One advantage of being the father of a little tyke is that you can carry diaper bag everywhere you go. I think of a diaper bag as an "Over-the-shoulder holster" My 6" SW 29 is perfectly at home cushioned beneath diapers and baby wipes!!

    Sometimes its nice to live in SE AK it rains 200 some days out of the year and usually is cool enough outside to wear a jacket so carry is no problem

    The gun you take with you ever where ever time is the best carry gun

    I have seen guys buy really nice (read $$$) guns for carry then they leave them at home most of the time I would rather have a 32ACP or 22LR then nothing at all.

    I think the bigger a persons frame or weight the easier it is to carry.
