That off duty officer was from here in North Carolina.
There were many media reports on this shooting. What was funny was, nobody mentioned that the shooter was stopped by an armed citizen.
The media will almost never report it when a gun is used to stop a crime.

Our hearts and prayers truly go out to all of those affected by Cho Seung-Hui's evil actions. But not even senseless, brutal murder
justifies taking away the God-given rights of the law-abiding.

It is also worthwhile to note that Virginia Tech is -- because of
deliberate policies set by its administration -- a victim disarmament
zone, where even those with a state-issued concealed carry permit are
    denied their right of self-defense.

In fact, pro-gun forces just last year tried to get the Virginia
legislature to address the problem. The bill to allow permit holders
to carry on state-supported college campuses died, due in no small
part to rabid opposition from Virginia Tech itself.

VT spokesman Larry Hincker put it this way after it became obvious
that the bill would not pass: "I'm sure the university community is
appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help
parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."

The unfortunate irony continues when one recalls that not long ago,
two students at nearby Appalachian School of Law managed to stop a
gunman at that institution. Happily, they were able to dash
off-campus to retrieve their guns from their vehicles.

    Exactly. For two reasons:

    1. The media caters to the sheep that believe everything they say; even if the media wanted to be pro-gun, the people who actually believe what they say wouldn't buy it.
    2. It wasn't news, because there was no massacre. There was no massacre because armed citizens stopped it when it was a triple homicide, and triple homicides aren't news the way massacres are.

Just make sure you are armed with this information when you educate people on how yesterday's tragedy could have at least been made less likely, if not less deadly.

Funny how many people forgot about this one.

But it was only a small number killed Not worthy of repeating over and over and over again on the news and Larry King could not make much hay out of that one. Some idiot running for office could not use it for a platform. It just was not tragic enough for politicians and media to buy votes or sell stories.[V]

Let's see. How does it got again?? "When guns are outlawed only ......"
