Predictions for the year 2000
Found this amusing. Some surprisingly close. Others hilariously off.

Prediction #10: Man will See Around the World. Persons and things of all kinds will be brought within focus of cameras connected electrically with screens at opposite ends of circuits, thousands of miles at a span. American audiences in their theatres will view upon huge curtains before them the coronations of kings in Europe or the progress of battles in the Orient. The instrument bringing these distant scenes to the very doors of people will be connected with a giant telephone apparatus transmitting each incidental sound in its appropriate place. Thus the guns of a distant battle will be heard to boom when seen to blaze, and thus the lips of a remote actor or singer will be heard to utter words or music when seen to move.
then there is THIS as an offset

while they got this one wrong in some respects - "texting" could be considered the "condensing" of English tho that was pretty much post 2000. Still not a bad call.

Interesting: Made me read through. One wonders how OUR predictions 100 years out would fare. Anyone care to play Nostradamus for the 22nd century? Maybe only the next 10 years? Next 20 years?

I think #3 is pretty interesting. While there was for a time an increased focus on health at all ages, I don't see that being true these days. From all the data I read, children and adults, in U.S. at least, are getting heavier and less active. 0 -

Predictions for the 22nd Century:
- Computers will take over the world and lobotomize us all with endless Pokemon reruns. Pikachu will be El Presidente for Life and rule with an iron fist.
- Women will achieve not just equal rights, but superior rights. They will run the government, military, and economy. The budget deficit will spike every time there's a sale and we will be at war at least once a month.
- Gun calibers will either get absurdly small or ridiculously large. Expect the 1.2mm Hypervelocity SpecOps Tactical Blackwater Urban CQB Ultra round or the 1.57 caliber Big Game Anti-Armor SOCOM TacFor round. Both come with ballistic tips in a wide array of fun colors.
- And house cats will still suck. Dogs rule![8D]0
