Hilton's jail term cut to about 23 days
LOS ANGELES - Paris Hilton will serve about half of her 45-day jail sentence and will be separated from the general inmate population, authorities said Wednesday.
The hotel heiress will spend about 23 days in a "special needs housing unit" at the Century Regional Detention Center in suburban Lynwood, Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.
Her sentence was shortened after jail officials gave her credit for good behavior, Whitmore said. Officials considered several factors in calculating the credit, including that she appeared for her latest court date, he said.
Hilton will stay in a unit that contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates, he said.
Like everyone else in the 2,200-inmate facility, Hilton will get at least an hour outside her cell each day to shower, watch television, participate in outdoor recreation or talk on the telephone, he said.
The 26-year-old socialite was sentenced to jail this month for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. A judge ordered her to report to jail by June 5.
A call to her lawyer, DUI specialist Richard Hutton, was not immediately returned. Her publicist, Elliot Mintz, declined to comment.

This punishment is nothing more than being sent to your room without dinner. BFD.
The judge had an opportunity to teach this spoiled wench a lesson.
I don't care that it was reduced from 45 days to three weeks. But, she should spend her time in prison like any other person would convicted of the same crime.0 -

There is merit to the argument that because she is a rich cerleberty she is in greater danger if she is put in the general population. What happens is the bigest nastiest dyke in the joint approaches her and says if my freind on the outside does not get $100,000 by Tuesday I'll cut your face up. She pays up and then it's the next mean dykes turn. By the end of her sentense she is either cut up or out a lot of money.

This jail escapade will cap any of her previous "News" releases.
Her face is on the front page of every scandal sheet newspaper at supermarket checkouts.

23 days in jail is still longer than i have ever heard of someone spending for a DUI or suspended license. i have at least 20 friends with multiple DUI's and no one has served more than 3 days in jail. knock paris all you want but there is no precedent for this in LA County 0 -

Our local paper reported that Paris Hilton has taken up karate in anticipation of going to jail. Evidently she's pretty good and last night she broke three boards.
(They were the slats underneath her mattress!)0
