Ford 7000 clutch question
Buddy and I just bought the above, 1978 model dump truck and the clutch seems to be slipping. Are there any adjustments that can be made short of replacing the clutch. If the clutch must be replaced how difficult is it and how much does one cost? Thanks, Tom

Engine? 1160 or 3208 Cat? You can check the adjustment. It should be a push type but should have a ring inside on the pressure plate that rotates to set the adjustment. 0 -
MT, it is the 3208 cat. Could you tell me more about the ring on pressure plate and how it is adjusted? Thanks 0 -
I just happen to have a 1978 Ford truck shop manual and I was looking in it. I stand corrected on the push type clutch. The release bearing pushes just like a pickup and it adjusts just like a pickup, even on the twin disc ones. If it is the Spicer type, the release bearing pulls to the rear, and it is the type with the adjusting ring. I worked at a place once and had a 1980 LN7000 shop truck. It had a 3208 and a Spicer twin disc(pull type) clutch. I'll try to scan the adjusting instructions and e-mail them to you. 0 -
