HR 1022
Well I've talked to my wife about this bill. She has agreed to let me get several firearms ASAP. What I'm wondering is what steps does the bill have to go through if it's to become a law and where the bill is currently.
I just want to try and gauge where I don't stress my pocket book without reason.
P.S. Write those letters make our voice be heard.

I know there has been alot wrote in this, but enough can't be said about this. It cannot pass.
This is NOT the cosmetic bill from the Clinton era and does NOT include
a sunset expiration, this one DOES ban many more guns, not just
features, going so far as to ban WWII era rifles such as the M1 Garand
and semi-automatic shotguns. Do your homework, learn about the details and contact your representative, act locally, raise awareness.0 -
You have a good wife!
Sent a letter to my Rep yesterday.
I've wondered why the major organizations aren't going into high gear yet. My own guess is they are waiting for the process to gain momentum in Warshington so they can use it as some sort of marketing fund raiser. It is perhaps too premature to use this situation as a fund raiser.
If this indeed their motivation, it is stupid. Attack early and often would be my strategy. I've read there are no co-sponsors. This tells me many democrats are viewing this as a trial balloon and don't want their name attached to it if HR 1022 gets shot down or sacrificed. Politicians are cowards at heart. When the NRA allows the bill grow, they are also allowing the democrats to be emboldened. In any case, I think the NRA's quiet strategy is no prudent.0 -
So this bill most likely will not go through the motions within a few weeks? I don't know much about the process of bills. I need to educate myself.[V] 0 -
The bill has been read, then sent to a committee. Here is where they debate the bill, and make changes, add attachments, etc. FYI, most bills do NOT come out of committee. (If we bombard them now with correspondence, they might get the message, and leave it there?)
There is no set time that it stays in committee, it could come out tomorrow, or never. What we have to watch, is if it comes out either attached to another bill, or when a large portion of the pro-gun representatives are not present, so they can "sneak" it though. If passed, it will have to go to the house, where it receives similar treatment.
Sorry, no way to help with your time line,
buy all you can, as soon as you can. [;)][:D][:D]0 -
I emailed my Dem Rep and told them HaHa like they listen,[:(][V][:(!][:(!] that if the Dems wanted a chance at the white house in 2008 they had better not pass the amnesty for illegals and the assault weapons ban. 0 -
I heard McCarthy doesn't even have a co-sponsor for it. I think after what happened after the '94 election that most of 'em are still a little gun shy (sorry about the pun) about messing with the gun rights issue. 0 -
Personaly I don't think it has a snowball's chance in he11 of passing in it's present form. 0
