Anybody know about Ranger Arms
Out of Gainsville TX brother is lokking at a rifle made by them and would like some information

There is a small blurb in the Blue Book about them...
Page 1303, twenty eighth edition..
Ranger Arms Inc..
Previous manufacturer located in Gainsville TX until the early 1970s.
Ranger Arms Inc. manufactured good quality, bolt action rifles in various calibers and configurations. Although somewhat rare in that there were not a large number manufactured, collectibility to date has been limited with specimens in 90%+ condition, typically priced in the 375-500 range..

My father was a dealer for Ranger Arms back in 1968 and stayed on through 1978 when Ranger closed its doors. Current prices vary depending on the calibers, configuration and shape of the rifle ($500 - $1000). 300 win mag and 7mm were the most popular calibers and would demand less money (Unless they were a rare config). Governors grade was the highest followed by Senators and Statesman grades.
Ranger Arms went out of business in 1978. Van C. Ellis was the owner or Ranger Arms and Homer Koontz owned the patent on the trigger mechanism. After Ranger closed it doors, Homer went on to start Omega Arms.
Ranger Arms produced roughly 4000 custom guns from 1967 -1978. Some actions were sold separately to custom gun makers. (QTY unknown). A true Ranger Arms rifle would have "Ranger Arms Gainesville Texas" engraved on the barrel.
Does your rifle say Ranger Arms Gainesville TX on the barrel? What caliber and config is the stock?0 -

It is a 243 winchester with a laminated mannlicher stock.

I have a best buddy who came from there. He owns about 30 of them, and even has some spare parts....knew all the bigwigs and machinists.

There is an issue. Parts break, I know it cuz I've seen him help folks about it. There are few repalcements.0 -
