small job
friend of my son wanted the checkering refreshed to give a bit more "traction" on the small grips on a 1884 colt. but he didnt want the overall appearance different as it was his grand dads.
condition when it came in
left side nearly done, tried to "fade" the lines out at spots where there was a heavy wear mark
right side finished and on frame

the difficult thing with this was the small size, and the fact that colt used a flat top check pattern. i am so used to nearly all check being cut to a point that i had to be careful not to go too far with this one.
and it was amazeing for a factory job as it had a LOT of off lines!
i had a few spots where i ended up with an extra very narrow line because of "offs" on the original that did not quqite match up with a fresh straight cut0 -
