Help!!! Porcupine Quills
Sorry I had to kick my husband off, because I was wondering if anybody could help me. I am needing to know how to prepare porcupine quills for beadwork. I have washed them and dried them, but they are still soft and split easy. How do you clean them out and make them workable? Any suggestions would be appreciated and no you can't call me COW300WSM!!![:)][:)] Thanks Mrs. 300WSM.[:I]

There is a large native population where I was born and I remember a bit about what I was told at a "pow wow....you may want to research it out a bit...
I know there is a waxy layer on the quills that has to be taken off..and the woman I was talking to about it used a dish detergent...I cant remember if she split them...let me see what I can find, and see if it rings any bells with me..
I cant remembe what she told me and what I have read on the web doesnt seem to ring any bells, but I will provide the link for you you and hope you can get some results...Sorry I couldnt be of more help...
