Gun Owners of America article about Ron Paul
quote:Ron Paul
by Larry Pratt
Executive Director
Ron Paul has represented areas near Houston, Texas for nearly 20 years in the U.S. House of Representatives. He has the reputation of the paramount defender of the Constitution and seeks to follow it in casting every one of his votes.
Ron Paul has been a leader in the fight to defend and restore the Second Amendment. He has sponsored legislation to repeal the following:
the Brady law;
the requirement to lock up your safety (guns);
the law permitting the US to be part of the UN (which, among other attacks on American freedoms, seeks to ban privately transfered firearms);
participation in UNESCO -- which has been used to dumb down US education standards;
the federal prohibition on importation of guns on a sporting basis test;
federal prohibitions on any pilot wishing to carry a handgun to and in his cockpit; and,
the so-called "assault weapons" ban (prior to its sunsetting in 2004).
Paul also has sponsored legislation requiring states to treat the concealed carry permit of one state the same as they do that state's driver's license.
Paul has viewed his opposition to a national ID card as a protection for gun owners. A national ID card would most likely identify the bearer as a gun owner, among other things of interest to government officials.
Paul acknowledges his underdog status in the 2008 presidential race. He argues that he is offering himself as a pro-Second Amendment alternative to the candidates who have initially led the field, none of whom have a pro-gun record. Paul hopes to use his long experience in raising grassroots support to gain sufficient funding to become the pro-gun alternative to the current leaders of the field.
Ron Paul is a Medical Doctor who for years even as a member of Congress continued practicing as an obstetrician. He is married and has five children, 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

BUMP!! I'm with Paul. He's got my vote and I'm spreading the word here in Mo! Vote Ron Paul in'08![:D] 0 -
We sure could use someone like that on our side. I wonder what his views are on other subjects. I'll be watching MR. Ron Paul. Thanks RUGER. 0 -
...Doesn't matter if the guy OWNS gun factories, he wont get the nomination. Paul wont get the majority of the gun nut votes either.
The vast majority of gun nuts know Pauls views on just about any issue other than guns, are about as lame as Shrill-Arry's and wont vote for him.
...Believe it or not, guns are not the only or even the main issue facing this country and Paul is a chump when it comes to dealing with issues that confront us as a nation, his dog wont hunt...[;)]

Not taking point in the "Paul in 08" campaign, but what pray tell is a "gun nut"? What views does Dr. Paul have that are "lame as Shrill-Arry's"? Do you mean the crazy fringe views about the US Constitution and its restraints on the Federal Government?
How is Dr. Paul a "chump" in dealing with issues that confront this nation? Are these "chump" issues related to that pesky US Constitution and its restrictions on the Federal Government again?
Just curious.[;)]0 -
Who would want someone in the white house, running this country, that actually believes in the WHOLE constitution? AND has the voting record to prove it.

COLT you don't know crap about ron paul with a statement like that.
please do some research before you spout drivel.0 -
quote:"Guns are not the main issue facing this country".
There we have a gun owner without a clue at all.
It's not only the GUNS,mental midgets...it is the steadily eroding freedoms and RIGHTS that is the problem...guns merely being a barometer of the progress of YOUR candidates towards totalitarianism.and your support for that progress.
As you smugly proclaim the insignificance of firearms.."Libertys' Teeth".you might be advised to review the history of gun control worldwide.and the terrible pogroms visited upon disarmed peoples.
Keep right on voting for people that say..."Lay an assult ban on my desk...and I will sign it"...keep pretending that you are pro-Second Amendment and want what is best for America.0 -

So you think a strict support for the Constitution is lame, huh?0 -

I read a great quote describing why Paul doesn't have a chance the other day
"Organizing Libertarians is like herding cats....angry cats"0 -
Hands down the best person running. 0 -

Unfortunately, you're probably right.

I just read a statistic that only %2 of americans have conceled weapon permits, that seems low to me. The point is we gun owners are in the minority and nominateing a pro war candidate is poular here but not in mainstream america. Fred may win the nomination, but could not win the election.
Ron could win the election, but only if he wins the republican nomination, he could not win as a third party candidate.0 -
Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate I would vote for.
Theres only one democratic candidate I would vote for, and their name is not Hillary or Obama or Edwards, they don't have a chance in hell of winning the nomination.
If Ron Paul doesn't win the nomination, I'm going third party.0 -

Most american voters are single issue voters, whether that be guns, social security, gun bans, free healthcare, etc. My single issue is guns. A pro-constitution candidate will get my vote!0 -

Ron Paul is the best way to get this country un-screwed.0 -
Unlike the armchair wannabees that talk a great campaign, then stay home in droves; I will vote again in '08 for the least despicable of the 2 nominees for Prez.
Ronny has no chance at all to win either party's nomination, and will likely drop out of the "race" by early December '07.
That leaves US with several "other" candidates to ponder, and likely vote for.
Staying home on election day is NOT an option; look at what happened during the last election cycle when the Dims made an assault on your freedoms and money, proclaiming their takeover as an affirmation that Socialist ideals are what Amerika wants.
If and when the Dims return to the correct side of the fence; they will be welcomed with open arms (provided they lose those that decry Amerika's place in the World, and would seek to relegate our Constitution to the dustbin of history).
Diversity and PC pogroms notwithstanding, the best candidate is the one that stands a chance of being elected.0 -
I am a strong Ron Paul supporter not only because of his stance on "gun control" but his strong pro constitution convictions in all areas.
I also think his chances are limited, but I'd caution you about voting for a sure winner, when the prize is that he/she does things you don't like. I am voting for the best candidate and hoping others do too.0 -
Unfortunately, our only real choices are between the Republican & Democrat candidates. And of these 2 choices, I just don't understand how anybody on these boards could pick anything other than the Republican - considering who is out there. A nonrepublican (3rd party) vote might make you feel better in the short term but it may help get the Democrat elected also.
Heck, I (& many others)threw away my vote on Perot a few years back (couldn't vote for Bush Sr or Clinton) but what did that get me - Clinton!! If I had that to do over, it'd be Bush..........0 -

The defection of many to Perot (and the election of Clinton) resulted in a reformation of the party that led directly to the "Republican Revolution" of 1994.
I WILL NOT vote for someone simply because they have an (R) after their name. Either the party reforms or it goes the way of the dodo0 -
Ron Paul is getting alot more support then you would think on the internet especially. He just isn't chosen to be spot lighted hardly ever on TV. I wonder why he isn't? 0 -
