Internet service question
I have Att/yahoo Highspeed DSL [:(!][V][xx(][:(]and I have been happy, but my modem is acting up and all the test supports that. I emailed tec service and they isolated it and so I called and was told I had to buy a Modem because I bought it when I got my service. DUH My question is since their modem makes the system work why should I have to buy it, No Modem no service so the system would be useless to me without it. Am I all wet or does this suck, I would like your ideas.

they want customers, but it would be too expensive to pass out free DSL modems, that's why u have to buy it. 0 -
I have Insight Broadband, they gave us the modem/router and installed everything for free. 0 -
They did the same thing when I got the system but they told me it was guaranteed for 1 year after that you have to buy the modem if it goes bad. Told Me when I called them and it's been about 2 years.[:(!][V][xx(][:(] 0 -
Generally, a service provider will offer to sell or rent you the modem. If you rent one, they take responsibility for it functioning properly and will replace it free of charge if it fails. You should be able to purchase a replacement DSL modem of your choice, but if you purchase one from someone other than your service provider you will need to give them the new modem's MAC address so their system will be able to see it and communicate with it. 0 -
You can buy a modem at Staples I think. When I got ATT/DSL they gave me that option.I took theirs because if it breaks they replace it free, or so I was told. 0
