It would have been cheaper to drive 25 miles to the gun shop that charges $20 per transaction.

Pistols have to go overnight air and UPS is the only one, I believe, that will handle them. 0 -
That is why I pay my dealer the $20 + the $15 shipping. (insured)
It's a few more miles, but I'd MUCH rather give them the business, I get to visit, and I save some $$$.

I was moving out some ammo ... first asked got it for $150.
It was $150 in ammo, free delivery.

Last handgun I sold on gunbroker cost me 83 dollars to ship with cheep fedex overnight, wont ever sell a handgun on gunbroker again, since no dealer will ship it for me any cheeper eather. 0 -

I sell them locally now, only costs 10% which is less than getting hit on the shipping since no one will pay that much for it.0 -

Take it to your local dealer, USPS can handle handguns BUT ONLY FOR FFL holders! They aren't cheap either but are about 1/2 the commerical options.
All because UPS looses so much stuff to crooks..... you'd think they'd would want to clean up their act but no, they just charge us more!0 -

That is true if you are an FFL dealer. They are allowed to ship via the USPS an any weight priority box is just over 8.00 add 4.00 for delivery confirmation adult signature and insurance and it is around 12.00 Rifles can go ups standard shipping for around the same amount.0 -
I had a FFL close by, not a shop, that to dealt with for years. Charged $15 for a transfer and always gave me what I wanted for his cost. Well he moved and I sure miss him. The local shops here want $40-$50 to handle a transfer plus the cost of shipping. Now I just do it myself. Fedex Overnight for handguns and USPS for long guns. Fedex Overnight is very high. I figured about $12 a pound with insurance on the average. Just paid $58 to ship a Colt Government model...a bit high but what you going to do. 0 -
I can ship an average sized handgun anywhere in the good old USA for about $12 USPS Priority Mail, Insured for $300. If it's higher value then insurance will obviously be more. You guys are missing out. Unfortunately, most FFL's don't want to mess with going to the PO to mail the package. Yes, I know it's been posted that USPS employees aren't up to speed on the ins and outs of this service but I just spent a couple of days preparing a "cheat sheet" for the other less informed counter persons which I hope helps the situation in the MO & IL area. I'm working on setting up a short training class to be given by myself at various postal facilities to improve the quality of service for firearms mailing customers. 0 -
I just mailed a Glock and saved a lot of money by not wasting it on a box or packaging. Glocks are tough so I just taped the address label on the grips, stuck stamps on the slide and dropped it in the local mailbox. [:D]

Right. As an individual I have to ship via common carrier and they require overnight/next day air to minimize the chance that their employees can steal the guns.0 -
I was told by a UPS Hub that if I removed the Firing Pin I could claim the Pistol was just Gun Parts and get the regular rate. 0 -

By law the "firearm" is the receiver even if it is stripped down. Your UPS hub guy might have been trying to do you a favor but s/he is wrong.0
