Move over, Dr. Phil, there's a new relationship expert in town.
He's Saudi author and cleric, "Dr." Muhammad Al-'Arifi, who in a remarkable segment broadcast on Saudi and Kuwaiti television in September, counseled young Muslim men on how to treat their wives.
"Admonish them - once, twice, three times, four times, ten times," he advised. "If this doesn't help, refuse to share their beds."
And if that doesn't work?
"Beat them," one of his three young advisees responded.
"That's right," Al-'Arifi said.

He goes on to calmly explain to the young men that hitting their future wives in the face is a no-no.
"Beating in the face is forbidden, even when it comes to animals," he explained. "Even if you want your camel or donkey to start walking, you are not allowed to beat it in the face. If this is true for animals, it is all the more true when it comes to humans. So beatings should be light and not in the face."
His final words of wisdom?
"Woman, it has gone too far. I can't bear it anymore," he tells the men to tell their wives. "If he beats her, the beatings must be light and must not make her face ugly.
"He must beat her where it will not leave marks. He should not beat her on the hand... He should beat her in some places where it will not cause any damage. He should not beat her like he would beat an animal or a child -- slapping them right and left.
"Unfortunately, many husbands beat their wives only when they get mad, and when they start beating, it as if they are punching a wall - they beat with their hands, right and left, and sometimes use their feet. Brother, it is a human being you are beating. This is forbidden. He must not do this."

I can understand and respect that.
However, any man, even a father, who doesn't realize how some women will provoke you just to see how much you take, hasn't done much living.
Because women these days, especially if they want out, or just want something to bludgeon you with, will F with you all they can to see what you'll endure without going off.

Provication or not, I would file for divorce and get and eviction order for her before I would hit a woman. If that meant I had to leave and get a hotel room before I could do it, then so be it. There is no excuse for hitting a female except self defense.0 -

Hell, even if they cut your tinker off, they're still the "victim".
No such thing as self-defense against a woman.
And to further confuse things.... Pay attention to a situation where the woman is regularly beaten. She'll make every excuse for the guy that she can think of! And even if she leaves(convinced by friends, police, etc) she'll either come right back or take up with the same kind of guy! ?????????? These guys really can't "chase em off with a stick"!
Sorry ladies but I spent a lot of time trying to help a friend I grew up with out of a situation where she was hospitalized several times. Finally gave up after almost three years and having his family support group file battery charges against me after I tried to stomp his head into a mudhole when he got the idea that he was man enough to come after someone his own size. Came to the conclusion that some women LIKE it! It must prove to them that they are loved or valued or something!
Last I heard they are still together and still fighting! [:(]
(I can picture them 20 years from now whackin each other with canes and throwin walkers through the winders!)

Reminds me of a case about 15 years ago. Poor Guy and Crazy Woman are going to get married. She "jumps the gun" and turns into a "C word" about 2 weeks before the wedding.
Poor Guy says "Wedding's off. I'm out. See ya"...
She shows her dipleasure by shooting him in the stomach with a .38.
In Court she claims "PMS". Really.
She didn't get away with it, and was found guilty anyway. But the fact that some scumbag lawyer actually used that BS defense shows how utterly devoid of Logic our Court system is regarding men and women.

Covering up and denying domestic violence is still extremely common in Western culture.
quote:Originally posted by Dean CascioUnder the old common law in America and the UK which was "the law" in most states until the 1920's allowed a husband to use the "rule of law" on his wife!
re: Rule of Thumb (or law)
This is not true; it was never the law in any State nor in any part of the United Kingdom. I researched it for a paper I did on domestic violence. However it is such a firmly entrenched legend that a judge in South Carolina made reference to in a domestic violence case.0
