How and where did the Army use these?

Some Winchester Model 94s in 30-30 were apparently bought by the military during WW II and bear the flaming bomb stamp.

For what purpose did the Army want 30-30s?

PS: I think that when the starting price is $4,500 it's cheesy to demand $50 for shipping. I think that when the price is above $3,000 the seller can pay the shipping.

And $50 is a little high, anyway. But then, if you buy $4,500 rifles maybe you don't worry about $50?

  I think I remember reading a post from Bert H on the expert side that said they were used for stateside guard duty.

  I also think that 94 is fake(us marks arent real)
  shipping will be $50 w/ insurance if it sells

  I was thinking maybe stockade or PoW camp guard use. The 94s were very popular up until recently for prison duty.
