Henry, Mausers have been chambered in just about any caliber ever made. Your 30-06 is also a metric caliber. 7.62x63 I believe, maybe 61, I forget. All calibers have a metric equivalent.

    Henry0Reilly,

The original list of non-metrics chambered by Mauser is short:

    .250/3000 Savage

    .30-06 Springfield

    .280 Ross

    .303 British

    .318 Westly-Richards

    .404 Jeffery

These are from the original Mauser factory records and don't cover the later releases from other factories.

And yes, most of the British and American cartridges can be converted to a metric equivalent but these cartridges above were chambered and the barrel marked in this manner and NOT metric.

    Best.

If I ever run across a mauser in 303 brit I'd probably like to have one for my (very small) mil surp collection.
