How did he illegally stockpile weapons? I still can't figure out what he did wrong? Since when is it illegal for a parent to give a kid a gun as a present? And in PA too! Any PA cops on here?

Dillon Cossey, 14, will be held in juvenile custody for as long as seven years.
Cossey, a home-schooled student, was arrested earlier this month. He had amassed a stockpile of weapons, including a 9 mm semiautomatic rifle, about 30 air-powered guns modeled to look like higher-powered weapons, swords, knives, a bomb-making book, videos of the 1999 Columbine high school attack in Colorado and violence-filled notebooks, authorities said.

The only real guns he had (according to reporters so take that for what it is worth) were a 9mm hipoint carbine and two 22 pistols. All of which his Mother bought. So I do not see how anything is illegal, do you? And now he has pled guilty, probably due to having a crappy public defender. 0 -

Two of PA gun laws states...
? 6104. Evidence of intent.
In the trial of a person for committing or attempting to commit a crime enumerated in section 6105 (relating to persons not to possess, use, manufacture, control, sell or transfer firearms), the fact that that person was armed with a firearm, used or attempted to be used, and had no license to carry the same, shall be evidence of that person's intention to commit the offense.
? 6110.1. Possession of firearm by minor.
(a) Firearm.--Except as provided in subsection (b), a person under 18 years of age shall not possess or transport a firearm anywhere in this Commonwealth.
(b) Exception.--Subsection (a) shall not apply to a person under 18 years of age:
1. who is under the supervision of a parent, grandparent, legal guardian or an adult acting with the expressed consent of the minor's custodial parent or legal guardian and the minor is engaged in lawful activity, including safety training, lawful target shooting, engaging in an organized competition involving the use of a firearm or the firearm is unloaded and the minor is transporting it for a lawful purpose; or
2. who is lawfully hunting or trapping in accordance with 34 Pa.C.S. (relating to game).
(c) Responsibility of adult.--Any person who knowingly and intentionally delivers or provides to the minor a firearm in violation of subsection (a) commits a felony of the third degree.
(d) Forfeiture.--Any firearm in the possession of a person under 18 years of age in violation of this section shall be promptly seized by the arresting law enforcement officer and upon conviction or adjudication of delinquency shall be forfeited or, if stolen, returned to the lawful owner.

He did not plead guilty to that. He pled to "stockpiling" weapons. 30 of them were fake.0 -
I think what you want to hear is this..
Dillon Cossey, 14, admitted to three crimes - criminal solicitation, risking a catastrophe and possession of an instrument of crime - in Montgomery County juvenile court.
I suppose that admitting to the crimes is the same as pleading guilty.
He CAN remain in juvenile custody for up to 7 years at which time he will turn 21. That does not mean that he will spend the entire 7 years in juvenile custody. When and if before the seven years are up the shrinks doctors think he is stable enough to go home he will be allowed to do so.

Think of it this way if for some reason any one on GB house was searched they could write 5,000!!! rounds of ammo found.

Some people here (not me [:(]) have more than 30 REAL guns and plenty of ammo for each one and are they "stockpiling?" Hell no, you need to have plenty of ammo to go blasting at the range after a stressful day or to just have some fun!0 -

Like I said in my earlier post!
My kids are in trouble!
They each have more real guns than thise kids had and my youngest is only half his age! And my kids also keep thier guns (as of about 1 month ago) in thier rooms!
I do not let them keep any ammo with the guns and bolts are removed or trigger locks are on, but they still have them in thier rooms!
The only misstake I personally see is that a mother provided these guns to a child that had little to no exposure to guns and had never been trained to properly handle them!0 -

If the kid is guilty of "possession of an instrument of crime", then so our our Police, Soldiers and those of us that have ccw's. Go figure that all the other news sources don't mention the "instrument of crime", but, MSNBC and the Washington Post surely does.0
