I don't have one and don't feel the lack, and that is what is going to make this hard. There will never be a "universally approved" list. I do have a model 82 Marlin, so maybe the list should say "Marlin .22"

I would have to put a Savage Model 99 on the list. I would like to put a pre-64 Model 70 Winchester on too, but don't have one.

Winchester model 9422 would be on my list

Remington model 700 would be on it.

    Marlin model 336

Hopefully some time this summer I will add a Remington rolling block to my collection. That might qualify as a must have.

Name a make and model of fire arm that you think is a must have for any gun collection.

As was mentioned on another thread; Marlin model 60 .22 auto.
I have one and agree its a must.

Well I have a small list for beginners: And a great place to start.....
    Winchester 73 - 90 - 92 - 94 - 97 - 99 - -03 - 04 - 12 - 36 - 37 - 42 - 52 - 61 - 67
    Remington any of the rolling blocks - 12 - 14 - 513T - 552 - 572 - 870
    Marlin 1892
    A nice COLT 1911 1903 1902 1905 1849 Ect
Of course there are numerous others...... Your Marlin M60 is not on my list at all. Maybe it should be it is a famous firearm by all rights. But to me and in my own opinion they are for shooting the crap out of and not for collecting.

Actually I seem to have most of the ones in some variation mentioned so far. I was interested in seeing what the other guys thought. Sort of a gun collecting taste test. [:D]

But heres one I picked up last year that I'm fond of and might be a must have: 1936-1941 Winchester 37 "red Letter" 20 ga. 28" She is a beauty!

    IN ORDER

1.) Cap Gun, comes right after the toy dart gun
2.) BB Gun- Learn markmanship and safety
    3.) 410/20 gauge Shotgun &/or a .22 rifle- First "huntin" guns
    4.) .22 Pistol- Gotta Plink!
5.) 12 gauge semi auto or pump if you can't afford the s/a- cause you grew up!
6.) Now your a man, bolt action hunting rifle, 7mm Rem mag or similar, would have been .308 but times are a changin, if you live where you shoot little creatures from a LONG way maybe a lighter flat trajectory round.
7.) .357 or .44 magnum revolver- Moved out u need a defensive revolver. Dont count on semi autos for defense!
8.) Now your shoppin for fun, an AR-15, a M-1A, you go boy pick up that 1911, or the Fancy 9mm semi with rosewood or mother of Pearl
grips, stainless finish with gold trim! Cause now your addicted! You can't help it you will buy more cause you NEED to :).
