Winchester 74
Came across a decent Winchester 74 in 22LR recently.
Neighbor was in his attic adding insulation when he found it under the old insulation.
He's owned the house for over 25 years and he didn't put it there!
He's not a gun guy so he brought it over to me.
I had no idea what it was worth so I offered him $75 cash, all I had at the time.
He took it and went off happy.
Serial number puts it made in 1953.
It was filthy, dirty, and had a 22 short stuck in the chamber.
Thought I had something special because of the 22 short, but a check of the barrel shows it to be a 22LR.
What spare parts would you Winchester guys suggest I try to locate?
Springs are always at the top of the list no matter what.
Any parts prone to failure?

A local dealer has a Winchester 74 for sale. I have never seen one before but it looks kinda neat. Can anyone tell me the good, bad, and ugly about them? He is asking $200 for it, how is that price? 0 -
Anyone have one or shoot one? How do you like it?

they must have been the semi-auto before the model 77 w/10rd mag,..from the looks of these few on GB about average price I would say...Loko.

If it is in good shape, the price is reasonable. I have a 74 in 22 L.R and a 74 in 22 short. Going price around here is about $150.00. Both are good shooters. 0
