Computer question

When you are doing nothing at all with the computer but you see the processor and hard drive are getting a workout, how can you find out what is running and who is running it?

    i have dial up at home [V] and just got dsl at work [:D] but my labtop wont seem to connect with the dsl its keeps looking for the dial up how do i convert it? thanks in advance

    I use Microsoft Office 2007 (Microsoft Word and Excel). When I installed Office 2007 I was using Microsoft Works 2000 (Word Processor and Spreadsheet). I didn't know if there would be a conflict between them so I cleaned out Microsoft Works before I installed Microsoft Office.

    Now I have the same problem in reverse. I have some archived files that Office 2007 can't open because they are written in Works 2000.

    If I install Works 2000 with Office 2007 installed will my computer explode or what?

    Is a 1250W power supply too much for a computer?

    In case your wondering I will be running two BDR drives, 5 120mm fans, 2 harddrives in raid array, 6 mem slots and a two way SLI video cards.

    The bearings are going bad on my laptop graphics card cooling fan so that it's making a really annoying buzzing sound.

    How likely am I to burn up the graphics card if I run the computer without the fan for a couple weeks until a replacement arrives?

    This hurts the pride a bit since I'm a computer tech, but recently my wife somehow got only one of our cd-rom's views set like this:

    I've tried resetting the view, I've tried going to the other views and "apply to all folders"... Nothing! It is simply seperated by alpha letters and I don't see where that's an option. She thought she clicked by the name column in the normal view to sort by name. All I know is I've never seen this in all my years as a tech... [V]

    Has anyone used Acer, i been wanting a laptop and i know there a new company. so does anyone have one, if so how are they (any problems, do you like it), customer service good? Anyone have any experience with them or know someone?

    How do you tell what your CPU is doing and why?

    My hard drive light is on SOLID for a LONG time, the computer is running SLOW. I don't have anything running that I am aware of that would slow this down that much.

    How do I delete temporary files and windows trash that keeps slowing it down. I am running VISTA home premium.

    Alright, I've got a quick question for yall. My laptop, well, it's being a PITA. First off, the keyboard is ignoring many of the keys I hit. Here, let me type a sentence without goin back and fixing it. My keyboad is being gay nd it realy pisses me off I'm ired of it and i is eally annoying. I spelled that perfectly, taking my time, yet my keyboard ignored some letters. Also, when I use the touch pad, the cursor goes berserk. I can just touch the thing, and the cursor goes flying around the screen. So, right now, I'm stuck using a regular mouse in the USB drive, and spending more time fixing errors than I am typing.

    Does anyone here have Firefox and IE both loaded on their computer and can switch back and forth?

    I tried Firefox and liked it, but my primary financial site demands IE. Need to find some way to switch between them.

    All help appreciated.

    Sounds like your internet properties have been changed if you are using IE7. If so, go to internet properties, click on Content Tab and see what is selected under Content Advisor if enabled.

    My wife is no longer allowed to touch my computer for any reason for just that problem. She installs every program she can get her hands on and mucks up everything.

    It does sound like she has enabled the ratings in IE config. (tools/internet options/content on IE6)
