Didn't this guy make two HUGE mistakes? 1)Pursuing bad guy after he departed the scene. 2)Shooting him in the leg on purpose.
Two things I was taught NEVER to do. Is it a big deal or not?0 -

elk, it would have been a big deal in California. Pursuing a BG with a firearm is certainly not a good idea. That makes you the BG then. If this had happened in CA, the BG would own you for sure......then, if you had shot and killed the perp, his family would own you.

Way to Go, Score one more for the good guy.
Unfortunalty he will probably get sued, attorny's for the puke will say that he was denied due process. When Gray left the scence of the original crime. Which made his actions more like that of a vigilante, rather than somone defending himself.0 -

In AZ he couldn't be sued in Civil Court if he were not found guilty in Criminal Court.
And he couldn't be sued by a damn Tonk, no matter what.
(we passed that last year, if you are a Tonk, you have no standing in AZ Civil Court)

Who would more than likely arrived at the scene too late to do more than take down the details. Leaving the criminal unpunished and free to harm someone else.

We have open season on carjackers in Alabama. Just because he tries to fly out of range, does that make him less of a carjacker?
Once again, the idiocy of people is evident. Why worry about justice when you have the LAW to uphold? Cops, lawyers, and judges. Most are idiots who have no business encroching upon their fellow civilians. [:(!]0 -
The carjacker threatened lethal violence. He showed intent and ability to murder. The kid that chased him made the right decision in preventing the carjacker from using the shotgun or car to do violence to others. 0 -
I've read everything posted, and it seems to be a consensus by alot of people that Mr. Grey is a young pup of a guy. The stories written have a slant that makes it easily infered that he seems to be in his early to mid twenties at the most. The guy is 47 years old and his mother is 70. he's had years to practice and his admission to shooting the guy in the leg implies that is where he aimed. he's had years of watching the news and reading about a-holes like the 18 year old that carjacked his mother and holding it all back as it smoldered until it happened to him. if any of us were there with him, we'd have seen the switch flip in his head and hear that same thought we've all had..."oh hell no! it is NOT gonna happen to me. not here, not ever"
his actions may have vigilante overtones, but he acted the same as we would have. he chased the guy down possibly thinking these thoughts:
"that's my moms car, i will get it back"
"that SOB had a gun to my moms head...that F-ing SOB"
"I've got to stop him"
he told the guy not to move. the guy didn't listen and advanced on him. he knew the guy was armed and fired in self defense. i agree he should have aimed higher, but he did shoot and has removed another scumbag from the streets. he did enough to end the threat without breaking one of the Commandments ("Thou Shalt Not Murder"). he reigned in his anger enough not to cross that line, because if he had killed the guy, it would have looked exactly like a vigilante act of justice and revenge. he would have surely been charged with murder or at the very least manslaughter if he had.
he did just enough to end the threat. I admire him for the strength this guy showed. I don't think any of us look forward to taking a life and would do it as a call of last resort. but i will say, if it were to happen to me, i'm aiming at the largest part of my target and shooting until it stops moving.
i do say we should pray for this guy that nothing retaliatory comes his way.0 -
