Here's a problem...
In a previously unexplored corner of my barn, under some rubble, I discovered almost 50 years of American Rifleman, all in annual boxes, starting about 1935.
Some of them are awfully beaten up, but the bulk are readable.
What the heck should I do with them ??
I can't be doing bending and lifting of them, and I can't afford to give them away and pay postage. I'd have to hire someone to help me do anything with them.
Let's have some creative ideas, please ??
Doug

How about a donation to your local gun club. 0 -
i say go to public waiting rooms, doctors offices, hospitals and such, and leave a couple here and there, then people will pick them up, and maybe we can get a few new people on OUR side of the fence. 0 -
I don't think I've got a gun club, hereabouts.
I'd really like to keep them together, somehow.
They do have some historical significance, as well as great articles and advertisements.

I know Salem has a couple gun clubs and I believe McMinnville does too.
I am sure if you contacted one of them they would even come to pick them up and save you a trip.0 -
You have a VFW in Willamina. Offer to donate them if someone picks them up. I'm sure the vets would enjoy looking at them. You can also deduct the market value of them from your taxes since they are a charitable institution.
I once donated 12,000 baseball cards to the local YMCA and deducted their book value from my income taxes.0 -
First call the NRA - they may not have some of the issues that you have...My father had a lot of old motoring magazines, and got a permanent family membership to a museum in exchange for his collection, along with a tax write-off. 0 -
sell them on here, buyer pays postage 0 -

50 years of them would take at least a full pallet I would think. So therefore you would be looking at minimum of $300 shipping and probly alot more than that!0 -
[8D]--Yo Big Doug, if you post (American Rifleman) under search, there's a HOLE bunch of guys needing info--
--You might check it out and help some people-check it out--

I would think an auction would be a good way to rid yourself of them.
You might get a lot or a little but it would be interesting to see what they would bring.0 -

Doug,
How close are you to a VA hospital? you could take a small box over whenever you can, or maybe entice you beautiful daughter to assist you?

I'll check to see if I have the whole year, and if I do, I'll send them if you pay the postage.

i need 1935 to 1944. can you help me? if you remember a while back, a flood destroyed my 1940's and 1950's. some members were very kind to help piece my collection back, but it never recovered. some are still hopelessly ruined. email me. please. 0 -
auction them on GB and winner pays shipping. if you get a nickel a copy thats more than you have now 0 -
Donate them to the public library if nothing else. If you want to make some money, try selling them on flea-bay. 0 -
I really don't think I want to sell them, but I would like to keep them together.
