Cooper tires...
Are they any good? I looked at some Mastercraft truck tires ( made by Cooper ). Anyone have any?

I've been wondering the same thing. I asked my son who is an over the road truck driver. He said that among truckers he knows they have an excellent reputation. He also said they are made in the U.S. I've been a fan of B. F. Goodrich for years, but I may give the Cooper a try next time on my pickup. I'm too stingy to go the extra hundred or so for Michelin, which would be my first choice. 0 -
I've had a set of 30x9.50x15 Coopers on my pickup for about 6 years. Very good tires. I probably have 40,000 miles on them and they look like new. 0 -
I have Coopers on my Explorer. They're black, round, and hold air. My three qualifiers for a good tire. They seem to work fine. 0 -
Those are what I'm putting on my Sport-Trac next month. $420 for four, mounted and balanced. 0 -
I have used Cooper tires for years.The Mastercrafts are not the same as the original Coopers.The sidewalls are not as stiff.I had to buy one mastercraft in a pinch when I ran over a piece of rebar.Definantly not the same.The coopers have lasted three times as long on my Ford ranger compared to other tires I have put on my truck. 0 -
cooper tires are great, i have had the best luck with them over any other brand 0 -
Another here for Cooper!
I have had great luck with them on everything I have ran them on and would go out of my way to get them. And as soon as I wear out the Uniroyals that came on my Bronco Coopers will go on in their place.
They cost a little more but are well worth it!0 -
guess i'll be the one to say that cooper tires are junk..from my experince. esp if you have to drive any gravel roads
i just put four good year wrangler pro grade on my pickup have to see if they are any good0 -
I like Coopers (pronouced Co-opers, here). Have had 3 sets and all had good tread life and tire wear. Prices always seemed to be REAL competitive when compared to the big names. I wouldn't hesitate to put a set on any of my vehicles. 0 -
for my 2 cents, i worked for a cooper dealer for 10 yrs doing heavy trucks and equipment.
their warrenty is great compared to most, and even with a 2 wd service truck going into some of the worst places and weather, i never needed assistance getting in or out of a job site with the original "discoverer" tires on0 -

Ive got 240 thousand on my F-350 and have gone through many sets of tires. ive gone with two sets of coopers when money was tight and was frustrated with them because they always wear out faster on my truck than the BF goodriches I opt for goodrich when money allows because i know they will last me 0 -
MICHILEN XLT radials lasted me 110,000 miles on my Dodge. They are the only tire company to X-Ray every single tire to assure internal integrity. Why buy ANYTHING else????? 0 -
bpost1958, I had two blow outs with Michilen, my buddy had one. I put Goodyear MT/R on my Land Rover, and have been good to go for 50,000 miles so far. Use to be a rabid Michilen fan when I could afford them, but now stay away from them! 0 -

I have 165x15s on my '67 Bug. They've got somewhere between 30 &40K on them and they show very little wear- I'd expect well over 100K from them at the rate they are going. so far this year I haven't had to put snow tires on it & we've had about 3 feet of snow so far this winter, so the rate it's going, unless I'm going to drive over a mountain pass I may just forget the snow tires for it. 0 -

I have had the opposite experience and I probably drive 50-60% on gravel. Most of the trucks I have bought in my area come with Goodyear Wranglers. I got tired of the price and wearing them out in 1/2 the miles they were listed for. I switched to Cooper which were considerably cheaper and get at leat 20 thousand more miles off them than the Wranglers.0 -

No kidding? I didn't know about Cooper owning MT and Avon tires. I've run Avons on motorcycles in the past but my Harley gets the best tire mileage with Dunlops. Mickey Thompsons are great off-road tires. A lot of my Jeep buddies will run nothing but MT tires. 0 -

As far as Tires go, I trust nothing other than BFG's, Yokohama's, and Pirelli's. When these junk Wrangler HP's are gone on our Element, it's getting a set of Yokohama Geolander 051's.
My dad has had Coopers, not the Mastercraft's, and has had neary a problem. I wouldn't hesitate to try them if they were decently priced. I've never priced them.0 -
