That sort of comedian no longer exists, and the world is poorer for it.

By the way, Bob Hope probably.traveled more miles to entertrain troops
in WW 2 and other wars than any President, Senator, or Congressman
did to solicit votes. He was a true G.I.'s friend.

I've seen some of his "road to" movies [now ripped off by family guy], and he was the one that always had to do the dangerous stuff while his buddy sat back and got the girl.

That guy never got a break.

Had the honor of 'meeting' him once at the commencement exercise
at USD, in San Diego. Only a second or two and a handshake but it was
obvious that he was a man of substance and great respect. I was/am
amazed how many folks don't know he was English. He was every bit
as much an AMERICAN as was Marion Robert Morrison!

I never met the man but I saw him perform at Valley Forge (No, not during the Revolutionary War [:D]). He was a great American. He was born in England but chose to be an American. He was an American a long time before I was.

Excuse me, would you be refering to Marion Michael Morrison?

Yes, they were both AMERICANS, though you could at least get the Duke's name right!
