Caught this walking through the cow pasture
Shot this while out to dads this last weekend, first c-dawg of the yr. more to come im sure they are lousey here and when it's -20 out they will come to just about anything. looks like it's going to be a good fur season.
SORRY, forgot the details, Encore in 204 Ruger, shooting hornady factory loaded 32 gr v mav. Range was 175 yds give or take, she almost made it through the field before she cleared the cows, i gave a YIP to stop her and to my suprise it did. she was looking into the sun and unbeknownst(SP?) to her right down the barrel of my 204

Nice! I tried to catch one in the pasture last week, but I just ended up standing outside in my wifes robe with no way to tie it, a breeze a blowin and no shot fired. He got in the bean field and was gone. Somebody honked while passing though. 0 -

How's that 204 do as far as pelt damage ? been thinking about one to replace my old 17 Rem which does little that needs sewed up, most times.
Always remember the best time to shoot coyotes is when you see them.0 -

i was surprised to find very little pelt damage. i was planning on a huge exit hole but got only a small entrance and no exit0 -

We even have have coyotes here in urban areas of Orange County here in SoCal and they are real pests. One of them got into my backyard several years a ago and killed my oldest girl's cat, and I loved that cat! Our city's animal control officers are useless (all they do is pick up road kills) and of course I can't fire off a shot around here without going to jail. Kill a few more yotes for me if you get the chance. 0 -

Barking dog, you should listen to what those who know say.
I love animals, and my baseline rule is: If you are not going to eat it, don't kill it.
My only exception is coyotes.
I have learned, on this forum, that coyotes will kill and eat your pets. I have two cats and two dogs, the big dog is 40 pounds, the small one is 20. I know from this forum that my small dog and both cats would be a treat for a coyote, and they could kill my big dog also.
So for me it is "shoot on sight" orders for coyotes. My deer rifle is locked and loaded, and I can hit a quarter at 100 yards five times in a row. I am in the wilderness of North Carolina's mountains, and there are coyotes around, but I will probably never get a shot. The brush is so thick, even though I own 48 acres, the longest shot on all my land is 70 yards, and that is down the driveway. I will probably never even see a coyote, but if I do, I will post a photo and story just like this one.0 -

I'll do my best, don't know if it will help with the numbers their. cattlemans asso. here is offering $25 a head. plus the pelt dude is giving another 35-65 its good money.
FYI...I just saw a video where they where using crossbows. might work well in you situation.0 -

Where I used to live the neighbors thought the coyotes where "cute".
That is until the coyotes jumped the six foot fence and killed their little dog. They did the usual call/run around with animal control.
I said that I would control the coyotes, but if they ever called animal control or the sheriff about a single shot in the middle of the night, I would never do it again.
The ditch witch was busy for a couple of weeks, and they came around no more. 22 caliber with nite vision.

Yotes bad....and stupid. The pair were running together. Called them up w/ a predator call. Shot the first one w/ mini 14 while the other ran off. Turned the predator call back on and the other one stopped running, turned around and met his buddy's fate.0 -
