Babel (Movie Review)
This movie SUCKS!
Should have been called RAMBLE!
Three relatively independent BORING stories all around the world that are loosely tired together. There is a Japaneses girl that can't get laid. She tries but no guy will do it. The audience expects her to get raped, but it fortunately doesn't happen. No man will touch her.
Meanwhile half way around the world there is a horny little Moroccan boy. He is perhaps the only one in the world that would help the Japaneses, but he is stuck in Morocco. They never meet.
The boy is bored so he shoots a Winchester M70 .270 down the mountain and hits an America tourist inside a bus. I'm thinking what the heck is an American gun doing in Morocco! Mauser would be more believable. Fortunately, the American would is a simple entry and exit hole through the shoulder, but she is losing a lot of blood. (Not the typical wound I have seen from shooting coyotes with a 270. I would expect a nasty exit wound with half the shoulder gone.)
Anyway, the woman lives, but while she is fighting for life, her children (ages app. 6 & 9) go on a road trip to Mexico with the nanny. The old woman gets caught at the border when crossing back and gets deported.
What's the point? This movie was a complete was of time. Give me two hours of PBS. If it's trying to make a liberal leftwing point, it was completely missed or diluted with the boredoom. The audience keeps waiting for the SHTF, but it never really happens. The Jap doesn't get raped, the kids make it home from Mexica, and the tourists live.

Thanks I'll take a pass on that one.
Rented The Departed a couple weeks ago. Interesting twist in the end for a cop flick but nothing Academy Award winning IMHO.0
