I love gun shows!
I went to the R&K gun show in Topeka today and scored. I got a 2", 38 Special, 5 screw, Military and Police, S&W revolver. I wasn't sure exactly what I had bought until I had a chance to study up on it. It has excellent blue, original diamond grips, very little turn line and was made in 1947/48. I got it for $275.00 FTF, I'm a very happy Smith nut.[:D] I also had a witness to my theft, Bigtire, and you all know he wouldn't lie to you.[;)] My power is off at my house right now, I'd love to post a picture. does it have the hole plugged for the lanyard loop?
Some of the very early post WWII M&P's were made of modified Victory frames...
Either way...nice find and nice gun

Yes it's a square butt and no, it isn't drilled for a lanyard ring. The case colors are also very good on the hammer and trigger.
The serial # is S 9736XX. I didn't have my SCSW available today, so the S prefix serial had me confused. I thought only early N frames had the S prefix. You would think I could have got the box, papers and tools with it.[:D]0 -

Yep! He and I were walking down one of the isles and he was commenting that he had not found anything to buy. We walk up to a bunch of old gunshow guys gathered around looking at an old wheelgun. You know the type of guys that you see at every gunshow that are always carrying something interesting. Scotty gently nudges his way in there to see what they are all looking at and someone hands him the revlover to look at and tells him the price. About two seconds later Scotty hands the gun to the owner and says "Here, hold my gun for me while I get my money out". Classic gunshow bargain. I'm surprised that none of the other guys standing there bought it first.
I picked up a pristine Kahr MK40 with night sightes for $500 FTF and an like new Ruger 22/45 for $180 FTF0 -
