Semi Auto M60
I have a JRW semi auto M60 for a few years now but I am thinking it is time to move on. I really like it and have always wanted one but I dont shoot it much and I could really use the money on the new house I am buying. I do not need to sell it to make things work but the extra cash would be nice. I know what I paid for it but not sure what the market is like right now. Maybe once a year do you see them listed on GB for sale, so that dosent help. I have a ton of accessories for it which makes things harder. If I decide to sell it I am sure I will do it on GB but just not sure the best way. I would like to sell it all as a package deal more to keep it all together even though I could get more piecing it out. The problem with doing a whole package is that it pushes the cost way up as the accessories are about 25% on top of the gun. I am looking for any thoughts or ideas with this one.

I wouldn't have a clue how the market is for those right now. but in dealing with all the accessories and stuff that go with AR's and AK's/SKS's, I can appreciate how much all that adds up, and how much running around it takes to get it all. sooo anybody who knows what they're getting themself into with your M60 shouldn't have much of a problem doing a package deal. make it obvious when selling it.
you might get more $$ parting out the accy's, but then it's more work dealing with it all seperately. how much is your time worth.0 -
I can't tell you how to market it, but if/when you do let me know. I might be iterested if I can come up with the cash. M-60 was my favorite in the Army and I allways wanted one. 0 -

It may be a bit more hassle, but you'll be money ahead.
The price of a semi-M60 alone will limit your pool of potential buyers ... once you get over $2,000 the pool starts getting very small, and when you break $,5000 there is usually only a couple people at any one time looking at the auctions, with the money and wanting what you have!
You might want to sell the gun first, then offer the accessories to the high bidder.
A little over 18 months ago when I sold an Special Receiver AUG I was only asking $6,500 for it ... I got all kinds of offers to trade for other toys, even though I said "no trades" in the listing. Finally after a while with no takers I split it up and after it was all said and done I'd sold it for $8,200 including the extra barrels, bayo & lug, brass catcher etc ... just be prepared to be hounded by people wanting your accessories!0 -
kimber that is a good point. That was the kind of info I needed. The gun by itself will break the $5000 range and then I have at least $2000 in accessories like BBL's, spare bolt, firing pins, bore sight kits, ect and it all adds up quick.
As much as I HATE reserve auctions this maybe a time that would be good to use one. Set a slightly high "Buy it Now" with a reasonable reserve just to test the waters. I would do a true NR but I dont think there would be enough biders for that to work here. If it is not going in a package in a week or two split it up with a starting bid at what I need to get for it to make it worth it for me too sell. It will be at least a week before I have time to take the pics needed to list so I have some time to think about it.
When/if I do put it up I will post it here, but even a reasonable price on a Semi M60 is not cheep.0 -
i dont agree with the "high reserve..." to test the waters routine. in fact i haet those auction. decide what the minimum you would accept for it and set that as the opening bid. if it goes higher it goes higher but once that first bid comes in youve made the sale. then i would offer the accesories(listed in the auction) to the buyer for a set figure. if he takes em he takes em. if not, list em up. thats just how i would do it. been involved in online auction for quite some time and dont bid on reserve auctions period. i know thast not an uncommon feeling among those involved in the business.... 0 -

I wouldn't recommend a penny auction for a M60, you could be sorry!
I re-listed my AUG S.R. several times ... with and without reserve, and/or BIN price, I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't be disappointed if it doesn't sell the first time out ... remember, not everyone with the money will be looking at the auction at the same time you have it listed ... and fortunately GB lets you re-list for free!
When I finally ended up selling the AUG S.R. I even separated the receiver from the parts kit ... which got the main components down into the 2K and 3K price ranges ... the kit was matching but the receiver had a different serial#, no S.R.'s imported as complete weapons, then the other accessories went quickly.0 -
I know a fellow that just sold one of these semi-auto M60's. I think he started the bidding around $6k. I'll ask him what he got for it and let you know.
I too would sell all the accessories separately.0
