m1a owners ?
what model ya got?, what kinda groups you getting at 100, 200+ yards
been thinking very serious about a m1a loaded, this years loaded come with a national match stainless barrel, and match rear sight, second choice is a scout model, pretty much ruling out any shorter barrel than that due to rumors about the socom not doing to well at medium to long distances

Standard- for me, paid $900 NIB back in the early 80's with the fancy walnut stock.

@100 around 3/4" inch at the worst
@600-700 around 8" or better, with 168gr Sierra match HPBT. Anything after that, it's all over the map. Not near anything as good as my bolt guns but figure 8" works for me out of a semi auto.
Wanted to add it took me a boat load of time and testing to find a reload this thing likes and works. With good factory ammo out of this guy, the group at 500-650 is real ugly[:I][:D][;)]0 -

I get around 3/4" at 200 with my handloads.
It started out as just a standard M1A but has been rebuilt a couple times ... now it sports a Krieger 1/10 heavy barrel, NM everything, friend of mine double lugged the receiver and it's all bedded into a Fagen type 3 over-sized stock ... Redfield Palma sight on the rear and I got the front sight from Champions Choice, but don't remember what it is ... a few years ago I put the JP Enterprise muzzel break on it and haven't shot it in compitition since, just kinda got out of the loop ... and when I get the urge to shoot a match I have an AR rifle already set up.0 -

My nephew is picking up a socom, I can't wait to try it! I am willing to bet with some refined reloads @ 300 yard's, it would be a very formidable rifle. 6" center mass works-[:D]0 -
thanks for the responses guys, i've been kicking around allot of option, but i think the m1a is the best choice, and will complete my over all collection, even a standard will do
please let me know how the socom works out, i like the socom without the cluster rail, those things just look uncomfortable, and with the ideal of it being an "entry weapon", the stuff looks like it could just snag on everything it touches, not to mention the bulky fore grip0 -
M1A loaded, use a trijicon ta55a. it does good at 700 to 800 with factory long range rds, 4 to 5' at 200 it is really tight. But my cousin is the super shot, he shot on the rifle match team, his shoots better than mine, could just be him. 0 -
I sold mine a few years ago. SA M1A, bipod, scope mount, mags, ammo (LC 68 Match).[V][V][V] Didn't get near enough for it. 0 -

Thats a Springfield scope. The NXS's on my blot guns are 1000 times better. This one will be fitted with a NXS as well, as soon as $$[:D] well ya know along with the good mount. Don't get me wrong, it works but it can be waaaay better.0 -

Springfield SOCOM 16. I don't feel like digging around my hard-drive for pics. 0 -
Zulu,
What sort of groups do you get with it? And I apologize if you've already answered this before... my memory ain't what it used to be.[;)]0 -
EMM, I haven't officially sighted it in yet. I haven't shot anything over 50 yards with it. Still trying to get enough money to buy enough ammo to take it out and still have some left for a reserve supply. Only have about 80 rounds right now...I'd burn through that in seconds. 0 -

nice stock there bobski, what model is that? 0 -
fajen select, usmc oversized MHP spec.
gives away the age of the gun, huh?[:)]0 -
I'm thinking M1A too. Was shooting my FAL last Sunday at 100yds, using a sling and sand bags and I was still getting patterns.
My trigger pull on my FAL has to be around 15lbs+ and my wobbly rear sight can't be helping anything. Also shooting mixed surplus doesn't help either.0
