Run a full pot of vinegar through it, then follow it with 2 pots of water. During this 3 pot cleaning cycle, no coffee grounds should be added. 0 -
well i'm not wimmens but if I wanted clear glass I'd let it soak in vinegar water. then i'd rinse it real well with baking powder and water (or else plan to throw the first pot or two of coffee away).
If that didn't work I'd move to a bleach water soak.
If that didn't work I'd buy another one.0 -
If U use the scrubby side of the sponge, and hot soapy water, you can get that coffee-crud outta the pot easily.
(1/4C of MURATIC acid, mixed with 1/2Gal. H2o will remove lime scale)
Then put a 50/50 mix of vinegar thru the "MAKER".
Then tell SARA to go buy her self a cup at the 7-11[^]

Dish washer does a good job in a pot with a neck too narrow for my hand. 0 -
This Sara must be cute to make you want to wash your coffee pot. [8D] 0 -
Coffee pots should never be washed. No time...no way...no how. It's a rule sent down from mountainman Jedediah Smith himself. Everyone knows this. Every since women got the vote, they have been chipping away at our rights and it has to stop!! [}:)][}:)]

A coffee pot needs to be cleaned just like any other cooking pot because coffee oils accumulate inside and eventually goes rancid. Rancid oil gives coffee an 'off' taste that some people actually like. If that's you, never clean it but if you like the taste of the coffee, wash the pot with soap and rinse well.
Clouder..0 -
If you try to clean it you may will break it.
Have the Lady buy a new one then let her clean the old one.0 -
Ehlerdave, shes a heep better lookin then me,thats for sure, and rider i,ve always heard same thing bout cleanin pot, recon i,ll try it this once,if it dont taste good recon miss sara gonna have to buy her own pot!,Ya,ll dont tell her i said that will ya!!Thank,Paul 0 -
A hunnert years ago I worked as a busboy at a local restaurant that was highly taughted. An elderly waitress told me the secret to good coffee was a clean pot but not to use soap. She then filled the pot with clean cold water and poured about a 1/4 cup, maybe more, of table salt into it. swirrled it around, then used a clean cloth napkin on the inside it to shine the interior, rinsed it out and it was spottless. I love coffee and this was some of the best around. 0 -
aka rotten...
Why dont you just take the old one and throw it out....get a new one...If you have had it for 10 years and never washed it, there will be all kinds of deposits built up inside, giving the coffee a not so nice flavor...
There are inexpensive ones on the market, and while you are had it go to a thrift shop and get one you can throw onto the bbq or even a fire if necessary in case the power goes off for any length of time...
You, Oscar and Sara all deserve a good fresh cup of coffe out of a clean new pot....and I dont mean just the pot either...the WHOLE thing...0 -
When I find mold growing on old grounds I will run some vinegar through it. 0 -
will pickle juice work instead of vinegar or masingil vinegar and water[:D] 0 -
Running hot water and Cream of Tartar through it, works too. 0 -
Cream of Tarter is the all-purpose rotten pot cleaner.

Exactly, Doug.
Truth be told, I usually only wash mine in soap once a week, and maybe once a month with cleanser.[B)] Keeps it sparkling clean.0 -
When I was a waitress, we used to clean out the coffee pots with ice and salt, swirl it around.... 0 -
Dirty yeller coffee pots have character, don't need no washing! 0 -
Take out huge insurance policy on coffee pot. Have pot stolen and make a claim. Take the money and buy a coffee farm in Hawaii. Get new Asian wife who doesn't even like coffee unless you tell her to. 0 -

The ladies I worked with at Denny's did this and added lemon juice to cut through the coffee oils. I did the pot at work a few months ago and it worked great.0 -

I don't allow my stainless steel travel mug to be washed. Always comes out with the coffee tasting like soap![xx(][xx(] 0
