Now our local LEO offices looking for TAP ammo

Hmmmm-

Outside of liability, Why on gods green earth don't they make there own practice ammo? Hell If I can duplicate Hornadys TAP ammo and make it a few notches better why don't the PD's armory do the same at half the cost or better of current ammo prices?

Round reliability can easily meet or exceed factory specs. Why is this not being done during hard and expensive ammo times?

What am I missing here?

    I think you got it straight with liability.

    Reloads will void the manufacturers warranty of their sidearms, for instance. And what happens if reloads accidently end up in a duty mag, and are used in an officer-related shooting?

    The question is...what are they missing. It would give them extra money towards thier budget if they just hired someone to reload full time... or train someone inside. They could save money. And maybe the tax payers might get a break....not.[xx(] Or why not hire a crack head and train them to reload. They hire crack heads as informants. Why not as reloader's,lolo.

    they should get some one certified as like a factory reloader, maybe.

    I was thinking, they pay me say a fair wage of 1k for one week. I could not imagine how many Thousands of rounds I could make in a 40 hours. (given a progressive press, once used brass, etc.

    If I can do 200 rounds in a night being real anal (making loads Bench/varmint grade) with a turret press-[:D]

    Not trying to be Anti-Calif. Just trying to find some common sense here. Keep factory ammo for real situations, Use Reloads for practice.

    I know what your getting at and agree[^] But it seems LEO offices are running out of ammo and don't know what to do-[:D] Just trying to help[;)]

    Great idea! Get a couple of crack heads to reload for the department. Half the loads would be double charged, half no powder. Oh yeah, real good idea.

    [8D]--I appreciate your input Francf, but EVERYBODY is running out of ammo, because of BUSHMAN=-IRAQ/AFGAN and it's not the caliber, it's the GOD DAMN AMM0--

    --And reloads for practice takes away EXECUTION AMMO --simple logic--

    --We need cases for reloads, right--GUESS WHAT----

    --Man, it ain't 1955 anymore--

    --unless you've got 50/60 thou 40 cals to (loan)--

    --forget the old .45 acp , nobody except Special forces in the sand box uses them--
