Are you talking about a vaccuum sealer? 0 -
Mine's a Black & Decker Vacuum Sealer and I love it. Get plenty of rolls of bags. You'll be vacuum sealing everything for a while. Really great for sealing spaghetti and such, freezing and then putting the bag in boiling water later and reheating it. If you do it right, you only dirty up the fork/spoon. You can pour out the water, put the water pan in the drainer and eat the spaghetti out of the bag. 0 -
I have a Black and Decker Fresh Gaurd that works great and did not cost a fortune. It has been going strong for over 3 years now. 0 -
You might ask a Polar Bear, they are known to have several Seals a meal during the day,[8D] 0 -
I been thinking about one, too. For food use, but also for ammo.
Seems like a dessicant pack and box or boxes of ammo would last forever and ever in all kinds of weather, if sealed up in a vacuum bag.[8D]0 -
I find that I use mine more for the "other" stuff then food. I have not done ammo and dont realy plan on it, ammo cans work fine. I do have all the stuff in my ATV bags sealed up and it works great, I do have spare boxes of ammo in there sealed up. I keep lots of stuff in my fire packs sealed up, they stay dry and take up less room. The sealers are very handy. 0 -
You know, I've been curious about it for years now and have wanted one of them, on-and-off, since. Somebody please convince me as to WHY I should break down and buy one! 0 -

I do seal ammo as well as food. My ammo gets sealed in the bag and then goes into ammo cans. So it gets double protection.0 -
It's all Bush's fault. 0 -

And your the fault of your mother and father! So what the hell has that got to do with this thread?
I swear some of the IDIOTS posting BS not related to nothing is getting real old!0 -
Get the jar canning attachment. I've been canning with mine for 4 years. Every thing is still good and fresher then water processing. 0 -
I have the cheap model of the FOOD SAVER brand. I use it to package venison and all other sorts of food that I need to freeze for more than a week or two. My favorit use is for pulled pork. I can smoke and pull 2 or three Boston butts. I put the bbq into the sealer bags (each about 1.5 lbs) and I can boil in the bag 6 months later. It tastes just as good as the day I smoked it.

I've got the Black and Decker also. Best way we've found to keep fish from getting freezer burn. With the wide bag I can also keep a stock in progress from drawing unwanted moisture. 0 -
I also have a food saver brand
would not do without one now
I buy meat in bulk or family packs and break them down to individual servings and save money
vacuum pack fish for the freezer
get large packages of corn on the cob and separate them
you get the Idea
My wife loves fresh ground coffee so we buy the roast she likes
One pound and break it down to 4 1/4 pound packs and it stays very fresh that way
it is also a great way to marinate meat. just cover in marinade and pull a vacuum on it (opens up the pores in the meat and allows the marinade to really soak in shorting the time necessary for a good job)
and as they said you can precook meals then boil the packs or microwave them for a hot meal quick
make sure you get a good one to start and you won't be sorry
just don't cheap charlie to start out with because you won't be happy and probable won't get a good seal
(like I did)0
