  need more info
  
  is that the only case?
  was it completely around the case or on one side?
  what caliber?
  type of gun/ammo?
  
  a better complete picture may help by identifying where on the case this occurred

  no this is the second, big ring all the way around, top app.50%

  remington 110 gr fmj
  the ring actually makes a corkscrew as it goes around the case kind of like threads on a screw

  Think I agree with V35, Bad ream job Or if it's a re-barrel job the threads were cut short leaving a gap between that action an barrel.
