Lasers Legal In New York City?

I just read that lasers are not allowed in New York City. Thats Crazy!

    I was reading that firearm lasers are banned from New York City.
    I never knew that.
    I use lasers for work and they are basically a firearms laser and they even use a scope base and rings to mount it onto the tool.

    The gang bangers (and wanna-be's) point them at people. It's disturbing. You don't know if it is a harmless laser pointer or a laser sight on someone's gat.

    NYC - as well as other big cities - is about percentages and the resultant numbers for them. With well over 9 million people, if only 2% are deemed to be "crazies, then there's 180,000 nuts running around loose. That's more than the population of some entire counties throughout America.

    So there's a high probability that a laser might be pointed at someone to evoke the reaction of a gun being aimed.

    I understand the lazer will blind you if you stare at it long enough.

    I am surprised that McCarthy did not add lasers to her "assualt" ban list of guns and toys that will soon be illegial. She is from New York, the city being the center of gun bans in the US.

    BTW and FWIW, I wasn't agreeing with ban or with the mindset I alluded to in my earlier post, just commenting on why certain things get easily outlawed in a city like NYC.

    While laser pointers may be in some teenagers' backpacks, they are not just a nuisance. They are potentially dangerous, so much so that unauthorized possession by someone under the age of 19 was made illegal in New York City in December 1998. One reason for that action is that police officers are trained to respond to being ''dotted'' with a laser pointer as if they are in the sights of a weapon and to respond accordingly. Young people should be discouraged from treating laser pointers as fashion accessories or high-tech toys.

    My 8 year old son has an airsoft UZI, complete with lazer sight and a hi-cap mag.[:0]

    Good thing we live in FL, or he'd be a convicted felon at age 8.

    Not all of them. It's questionable at best. It also seems and depends on the color. I will not say what color and the intentions of it use.
