Trying to reduce costs, squeezing every energy nickle until the buffalo craps.
Using free firewood for heat in the wood stove, a Century FW0007.
My ARUF 303016 air handler has the GE X-13 blower motor, it is pushing air through six 6" insulated flex ducts to parts of the house not exposed to the stove. I have the fan running all the time.
I have a ceiling fan on high pushing air UP in the middle of the great room 18X32 feet where the wood stove and cold air return is.
The kitchen is connected by a six foot wide opening to the great room, it is 300 square feet with two air vents. I have a ceiling fan running on Low at the peak of the 16 foot cathedral ceiling in there.
There is a small box fan running on low from the kitchen pushing air into the "old" front part of the house, it has no heat of its own just leakage from the new part.
So far, down to freezing outside with big winds the house is comfortable, too warm in the great room at 74 but a nice 68 in the kitchen and master bedroom, the very front room is 63 but I don't use it so no big deal, I just want to avoid mold on the walls.
I have not had to use the heat pump at all, just keep the fire going burning pretty low.
Question: Is the running of the air handler fan motor 24-7 plus the three other fans saving me money or is this a case of penny wise and pound foolish. Is there a easy way to move air over 50 feet from the hot stove part of the house to the coldest room?0 -

Not hvac, but as a welder and fishing season is upon us- Boats, trailers and hitches.[:D][;)] NO I DO NOT WELD RUST! take your neglected rusted pieces of Shnit some place else and get it fixed for $500.[;)] 0
