Property tax going even lower in SC
Wow... My home property tax bill will be minute.
COLUMBIA, SC (AP) - Better than expected sales tax collections mean South Carolina homeowners will likely get an even bigger break on their property taxes.
Starting this fall, homeowners will no longer pay property taxes to operate schools, which makes up to 60 percent of the average tax bill.
Sales taxes will pay those fees instead. And officials say the state will collect more sales tax revenue than needed to pay the school taxes, meaning the additional money will go to lower county and city property taxes.
The savings won't appear until next year, when tax bills are sent out in fall 2008.

Yep! After the big hoopala from the Governor in Fl. about the great savings his new law for counties to start rolling back property taxes to an earlier time (in actuality to before the real estate bubble burst) My taxes this year are app. 28% higher! With the appraised resale value going up by 23K! In addition to the "fees" that have no caps and keep rising yearly. County commissioners have to live too ya know! [:(!]
GOOD LUCK

The only way to properly run a government is to immediately return unused tax dollars to the citizens. Lest a firvolous use be found for it. I believe in running the gov't on a slight deficit and every so often making up the slight deficit with a special tax. 0 -
Taxes are like cancer. You have to completely destroy them or they WILL grow back even bigger. 0
