Don't slam Zumbo
Just goes to show you what comes out of(people like Zumbo's) ignorance. Believe me Zumbo is not alone. Many hunters (and I know more than a few) consider those who hunt or just enjoy ARs, AKs, or other military arms the same way fly fisherman look on bass anglers. Elitist snobbism born of ignorance. I consider the knee jerk reaction of many out there calling for his head to be simply wrong. I think the proper thing would be to set him up with a Les Bear AR 15, take him on a prairie dog hunt, and do a show on it. Education works better than intimidation. Right or wrong people do not like apposeing views shoved down thier throats. As for his comments being used by the Brady gang, et al, we've done more harm alianating the hunting groups by calling for his head than the gunhaters preaching to their choir. Makes us all look like a bunch of idiots.....

Problem is...He does not understand what the second ammendment is all about. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with hunting. His ignorance is blatant and very destructive to the rights granted us in the Constitution. 0 -
On a personal leverl, I agree My Gradfather is a "zumbo"
however what he says will not bite us in the ass come AWB time.
Also, My grandfather has not made a shooting related living writing articles for 30 yrs.
Zumbo should have know better. I can forgive him as a man, but he got what he deserved0 -
Joe, It is NOT about the hunting part. You should be able to own an AR/AK/SKS or any military or look-alike firearm if you want to. I don't want him to legitimize them as "sporting" weapons. Just to acknowledge our RIGHT to have them with or without his or anyone else's PERMISSION!
Damn, ECC, you beat me to it![:D]0 -

True enough, Don. "The Right to Bear Arms", NOT "The Right to Bear Certain Arms" 0 -
His opinion of any type of firearm is FINE, I have no problems with that even if I disagree. He made 2 HUGE mistakes. The first and lesser evil was that he calls for a ban of these types of firearms that makes him anti gun! If it was ok following his lead then any firearms like fancy Over Under tarp guns should be ban since I dont see why any one would NEED a $10,000, $20,000, $30,000 + $ shotgun.
Where he really steped on himself was when he Called 10,000's of LEGAL gun owners and out own Military (who do you think owns the most "AR" type rifles) no better then terrorist (sp)!
Like others here have stated the 2A is not about hunting rights. There is no where in the Constitution that says you have a RIGHT to hunt. If they find some way to ban hunting you can NOT call it unConstitutional. The 2A is for a RIGHT to bear arms period end of story.0 -
What I'm trying to say is that the "Hunting" crowd, many of which are still Zumbo fans may side with the Brady Bunch when it comes to a proposed AWB or any other non-hunting arm (like high cap pistols) because of the way he was creamed. I'm sure the gunhater crowd is really eating this up. Divide and conquer.
Me, I'm not a vindictive person. I'll stand up for my rights and do what I have to do to protect them.
The guy screwed up and realizes it. Give him a chance to right a wrong is all I'm saying. When the good ship Gunowner hits an iceberg we'll all go down.0 -
I'm afraid I'm with Joe here. I don't like what zumbo said. He deserves some crap for it. But lets not forget that what he said does resonate with a large number of people out there. There's more to be gained from making a friend than an enemy. 0 -
Bury him.
I wonder what part of "shall not be infringed" he doesn't understand.
He is philosophically an anti-gunner, no matter how hard he tries to get his income back from us.
Would you hire/rehire someone that was so antithetical to YOUR beliefs???

I don't think so. I think this will act at a wake up call for hunters to get off their collective asses and help. I hope hunting magazines and writers all chime in supporting the thrashing that Zombo got. We will know in a few months after the dust has settled. If writers start to voice support for Zumbo I hope they get the internet beat down they deserve.0 -
Zumbo just doesn't get it. He's "apologized" at least three times, and done nothing but dig a deeper rut.
He said what he truly believes, and continues in the same mindset.
http://nugeboard.tednugent.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/286904.html
It's all about hunting to him. He still classifies those in the shooting sports as either:
1. hunters.
2. hunter/shooters.
3. shooters.
He's only sorry that he got caught, and lost his sponsors, shows, and paychecks. He even tries to blame us for the predicament he got himself into. (See the link above.) Sorry Zumbo, those were your thoughts and words, not ours![:(!]
Kids that get caught stealing candy are sorry. Sorry that they got caught.
Shooting an AR on a hunting trip with Ted Nugent isn't going to repair the damage he has caused all gun owners.
His 'rut" is rapidly turning into a latrine.
Latrines have been used as graves before.
No one is digging his, but him!0 -
It doesn't matter if I or anyone else accepts his apology.
The damage he has done to the firearms industry is irreversible and therefore of no consequence.0 -
I am not a lover of "black military guns" as hunting arms! But I will stand shoulder to shoulder with you all to protect your right to own them, hunt with them and carry them to the range.
The folks who buy these guns legally do not commit crimes!
Actually the same goes for fully auto machine guns, but we will never get that 1929 sullivan law off the books.[:0][:0]
But you folks are right in your assertion that we need hunters, target shooters, collector, sellers, mfgs and all other gun lovers to stand together to get these simple minded, liberal, socialist, anti-gun facists off our tails.[:(]0 -
CritterGitter - I couldn't have put it more succinctly myself.
Nice job.

With friends like dumbo, who needs enemies?
He ain't gonna be my friend, no, never.
I'm not prejudiced, I hate everyone of his mettle.
Just my $.02.0 -
I understand what your point is Joe, however, I am not a hunter, really I am not much of any kind of shooter except a shotgunner. I do own hunting rifles, lots of handguns, some black rifles, and even blackpowder. Some of my guns may have gone years since they were used because it's just not what I do. I would never do anything to endanger big game hunters'(which I've tried) sport, or ISPCA shooters (which I've tried), long range rifle shooters' (which I've tried), civil war reenactors' (haven't done that), or people who own guns strickly for self defense (Myself included).
Shooters need to stick together, not pick eachother apart and that was what he decided to do. The difference between his choice and your average hunter who could't care less is that Zumbo is a public figure, and a public figure for shooters' as the average gun owner will not make any distinction betwee a big game hunter and a varmit hunter, or a civil war reeactor. We are simply, gunowners.
E Pluribus Unim- Would serve gun owning Americans well.
The Zumbo situation is an example that we can stand together if we believe we can "win".0 -
I would think anyone that has followed the news on Zumbo, would assume hunters and shooters are a powerful group. I hope the politicians take note of what happened. 0 -
OK, so he goes out and double taps a prairie dog with an AR. What next? Elite snobbery as regards the .50 BMG? So many libs hate this gun and there is yet to be a gang related shooting linked to it.
OK, so Dumbo wouldn't use one for rabbit hunting. That's not the point as stated above.
This guy has made a living prostheletizing on the subject of firearms and hunting for decades. At best he has early Alzheimer's to make known his poorly thought opinion. Time indeed for him to retire before he arms the libs with more "opinion."0 -

I agree, I primarily Varmint hunt with a bolt gun ""BUT" I also use an AR-HBAR. Gunners/hunters are one thing, the uneducated public is another. The media sees black and more black
a sniper rifle or an assault rifle to hunt with-
People need to wake up The public DOSN'T SEE GRANDPA"S GUN ANYMORE!0
