IMO, David is trying to make a point...that strip clubs are seedy businesses...like Buy Here, Pay Here..everyone rides car lots and payday loans.

No offending this gal....you would just have to walk into the store to get an idea of what kind of store we are. Its not so much a typical pawn shop, but 99.999% straight up gun store with a couple counters of "non-gun" items. My father was always doing trades....just about everything we owned involved a gun trade. TVs, bikes, car repair, even my divorce from my first husband was a M14 trade (well worth it.) Along with the fact that he was always lending money to people it was a natural mutation for a pawn shop to be in the mix.
I don't see much in common with a pawn business and a pay day loan. The loan is given on an "item" that can be gotten back easily by the customer if the borrower isn't a nim-rod and maxes out his debt.0 -
Pawn shops are many rungs above payday loan places and car title loan places. And, as Locust Fork pointed out, there are differences among pawn shops. Some are primarily sporting good stores, while others are more "traditional," lending money on just about anything that comes through the door.
It is probably easier for a conscientious pawn broker to obey the Biblical admonition against "opressing the poor," than the proprietor of a payday loan or car title loan joint.0 -

Worked for a "check advance/payday loan" store as an Assistant Manager for a little over a year before retirement. Lots of money being made. Some customers with income of $60,000-$70,000 annually writing post-dated checks for cash. Write a check (if approved) for $230.00 and receive $200.00 in cash. Due in fourteen (14) days. Customer can return in 14 days, pay the $30.00, write a new check for $230.00 and good to go for another 14 days. Saw accounts of customers that continued to pay the $30.00 every 14 days (allowed to have up to 2 accounts----$400.00
