does anyone else find it wrong that.....
...america is in a self imposed de-nuclearization process while china, iran, syria and russia are all building more and more nuclear weapons. i know someone in china who asked why we are voluntarily destroying our own nuclear weapons. china thinks we are complete fools and i have a sinking feeling that soon they are going to own us. the year....2028

Nuclear weapons are a waste of money. Plenty of countries exist quite happily without a single nuclear weapon. Does China own them? 0 -
Our subs are better than their subs.
Our planes are better than their planes.
Our rockets are better than their rockets.
Our guidance systems are better than their guidance systems.
Our nukes are better than their nukes.
We don't need as many, and that's a good thing.0 -
It's like owning a safe full of guns. Nice to show and brag about, but if threatened, usually a single weapon will suffice.
Remember, you have to pull maintenence and manage security on the whole lot though.
Understand "a single weapon" is used metaphorically and not meant to give the impression of the United States keeping only one strategic weapon. [xx(]0 -

Many of ours are obsolete. So we distroy those and replace them with ones that are more up to date. MosinND your post was tounge and check, yes? After all those happy countries are happy only because of our deterent factor. 0 -

Why is it wrong? How many nuclear weapons do we actually need? I know we need some and I'm not a fan of getting rid of all of them, but seriously... how many do we need?
Israel and the UK seem to get along just fine with an esitmated 200 warheads apiece. China's arsenal is estimated by some to be around 100. I doubt anyone ever said, "They only have 200 nukes, let's go mess with them... oh wait! They just got 201 - time to back off!"
The money spent maintaining a nuclear deterrent of ridiculously large proportions would be better spent on things we could actually use.0 -
At some point it does get ridiculous.
Iran - "We can destroy Isreal with our arsenal!"
Isreal - "So what, we can destroy the whole world with our arsenal!"
Russia - "Oh yeah, we could destroy the world 5 times!!!"
US - "Oh yeah, we could destroy it 20 times!!!!!"

very few people have the ability to see clearly how the future will turn out. most people think that things that are today will be tommorow. china is growing, china is changing. america is shrinking, america is cowering.
america cant even stop an invasion of lowly chivatos. how the heck does america think they can fight and beat a chinese military that will very soon eclipse the american military.
america stands tall and tough when we have the overwhelming firepower, but watch how fast we cave when china has an equal or better military.
look how many poeple (even in the military) who are saying we can win a war against iran right now.
china will be the new super power. not so much because of superior firepower but because of loyalty and drive to win and acceptance of sacrifices.
this isnt your fathers america, this is the new (and lost) america.0 -
