of course they had FAE bombs already, but the point of this one is that it's so large. if they have a conventional weapon that's comparable in power to a nuclear weapon, there's nothing keeping them from using it and lots of them. that's a major advantage, I'd say the desirability of the nuclear bomb has been surpassed. we need to get on it and design one of our own pronto. other major advantages should be:
-cheaper to manufacture
-easier to manufacture
-no special materials processing required (as in uranium refinement)
-no continued testing to make sure they remain viable
-no special storage requirements of pre- or post-production materials, worrying about the environment in case of a disaster
so it would appear that they are much more cost effective.
the only real advantages to nuclear weaponry would now be that they can:
-deny troop movement through an area after the fact
-penetrate fortified positions with radiation (but not very well anyways)
-slop radioactive contamination all over as a deterrent in keeping with the policy of M.A.D. if that's what it comes to
I'm curious as to why a megaton yield for comparison wasn't included in the story. it should be able to be rated in megatons.0 -

Not only that, bet every explosion generates a negative pressure(vacuum) wave. The negative pressure wave is what makes "tuned" headers on an auto engine improve mixture velocity at the air/fuel inlet.
This is non-news.

As you can see, sadly, the extension cord
and hose were ripped away as it was dropped
rendering it harmless - a dud. A few Afghan
donkeys were squished - but other than THAT
