When you are doing nothing at all with the computer but you see the processor and hard drive are getting a workout, how can you find out what is running and who is running it?

Okay, computer geeks, here's one for ya....
I've got a PC with Rambus memory in it. What's on board is Rambus (RDRAM) 184 pin PC600 (400MHz) memory boards. I want to add memory. However, I cannot find PC600 boards to add, only PC800 (800MHz) RDRAM memory. Will the PC800 memory work?
I've talked to 4-5 different companies/people and gotten 4-5 different answers. What say you?

If I know an IP address, but don't know the website, how do I access that IP address? The reason I ask is, my firewall shows me the IP address of people who try to hack in my PC, and I would like to ping them back just to let them know I know they're trying to look in.

When I try to back out of this box I am sent directly to the Winfixer website. This happens all the time I have tried to get rid of it with anti-virus and anti-spyware to no avail. Is this Winfixer something I should try or stay away from. I don't trust it at all. Any suggestions or warning are appreciated.

I can't remember my windows password on one of my computers and need to either disable the password funtion or bypass it in order to log onto my network system. Is there anyway I can change my password without remembering my old one or is there some way I can disable the password funtion. I have had to do this before but cannot for the life of me remember what steps I took to disable the password. HELP!

How do you tell what your CPU is doing and why?
My hard drive light is on SOLID for a LONG time, the computer is running SLOW. I don't have anything running that I am aware of that would slow this down that much.
How do I delete temporary files and windows trash that keeps slowing it down. I am running VISTA home premium.0 -
Every word and every image looks like it shifted to the left real fast leaving a slight diminishing trail about 1/2 inch long. What the heck happened? My grand son was on here playing games and when I turned the computer back on thats the way it is. 0 -

Acer is by no means new! They have been around for a number of years. They were based near San Jose California. And I also hauled some computer parts to them from time to time.
I had a fullsized system of theirs almost 10 years ago, and one of thier early laptops about 8 years ago. Both were great systems, and were fully upgradable with no prepritory parts in them.
I have not looked at their newer systems but they should be good too.0 -
A friend of mine is an Acer dealer and he swears they are the best bang for the buck. He sells more Acers from his store then any other brand. 0 -
Good machines. Laptops are inexpensive and pretty high quality. Not much more to add. 0 -
PC's / Laptops / PC Tablets are all competative and reliable, you can custom build to your liking or get a baseline model. Would not hesitate to get another, currently use an Acer PC tablet in my service truck with Verizon wireless. Have worked on a couple(software add ons) have sold a couple and reffered people to a local company that builds them to your specs, absolutely nothing wrong with them. 0 -

Just make sure it has a good mother board and processor like Intel, not AMD.

I have ran a couple AMD prossesers and never once had a problem with them. In fact my full sized Acer had an AMD.
And the first computer I ever built from scratch was running a 350Mhz AMD (top of the line back in those days(gives you an idea of how long ago it was)). I built it for my mom, and it was still going strong about 4 years ago when she upgraded to a faster system.0 -

My homebuilt computer has been running an AMD Athalon 64 3000+ for two and a half years now, no trouble what so ever. 0 -
If I remember right AMD can also be overclocked to make it quite a bit faster as well. Just make sure you have a good cooling fan (that goes for pentium chips as well). 0 -

I'm not real computer techie but that is true, if your going to overclock, especially if you don't have a duo core you want a bigger fan, or more fans. Duo Core are so well made when overclocking it doesnt over heat as much, of course there's two processor's, some advice though overclocking can damage computer components if not fry the brain of your computer so if you don't know what your doing don't, also if not playing games there's no need really.0 -
Running 4 AMD's right now, have one that was built in early 2000 that has never had any issues. There is nothing wrong with AMD's. 0 -
amd is a good chip, and has been a leader in performance/price over intel until now
you should never overclock without liquid cooling, amd are ok for overclocking but intel has a system shutdown if over heated, im running a p4 3.4 800fsb and can oc it at 4.0 gigs, with hyper-threading the precursor to duo core0 -
I've had AMD's in my last 3 computers; have dual Athalon 4200 64's in this new one and it is a bullet compared to the last one.
Have never had a problem with the AMD's.0
