While There's talk of Small Cals./Pocket Pistols..
...been thinking about a small "pocket" pistol. While I have never carried anything smaller than a .45, which I am used to and have absolutely no problem w/weight/size etc; I am seriously thinking about an extra (just something to alternate with) small pistol.
Carry a series 70 Colt Combat commander too...but would still like something I could actually just slip into my pocket.
...I like .380's, so that is what it would be. Glocks do not fit "feel" right (if they even made a .380?)...and I don't want one so damn small I cant get a grip on it...so not being familiar w/any of these small guns, except a Mauser HSC which felt great/right size, and shot great(which I may look into) I'll have to check these little guns out in person before buying.
New, or used in GD or VG condition in the $300-$400 dollar range would work for me...as it will get somewhat beat around anyways. I don't care for a "beater" either though, as it would be carried sometimes and I don't like suprises.
Any suggestions on one that meets the above mentioned criteria?
First hand knowledge by someone would make me feel much better rather than "my friends brother-in-law had...."
I noticed Kel-Tec, new for less than $250. $250 bucks for a new gun doesn't seem like it would buy much of a gun to me?
If a Sea Camp (sp/ck) in .380 could be found for maybe even $500. I'd consider that too as Ive at least heard some good things (a little bit anyway) about those.
Any comments from those with first hand exsperience would be appreciated. I just know I can count on some good advice...and some wanting to direct me to a 9mm....and probably the great "sleeper", the HighPoint...[:D]...thanks....[;)]

The NAA Guardian in 380 is a good little pistol. A copy of the Seacamp.
Anyones guess on what a used one sells for but a new one sells for around 380.000 -

I carry daily one of several different guns.
Depending on the day's mood and/or dress code, it may be a Kimber in .45, a S&W revolver in .357, or even a NAA mini revolver in .22 magnum. However, the one I choose for daily carry - at work - is a Seecamp LWS .32 ACP.

Colt Mustang "380"--had one for many years, main carry gun. Never had a problem with it. 0 -
Take a look at the Sig 232 in 380 it is the best one available in my opinion. Most accruate and a nice feel in the hand. Its larger than the Kel-tec and Seecamp and may not be your cup of tea but in a gunfight its a performer for a little cal.[:0][:0]
I favor the Winchester Silvertips for defense in both the Sig, kel-tec and Seecamp. They are very reliable, accurate and will do a good job for you.0 -

...Hey thanks guys! Appears the Kel-Tec is pretty well respected.
They make a 9mm too! I'm not exactly a 9mm fan, but I'd take it over the .380! I suspect that the KT in 9mm is a tad bigger (a good thing)in size than the .380. and unloaded it weighs in at 14.4oz![:0]
NIB they can be had for $229-$289! Even comes in OD! [:D] If as reliable as ya'll say, that's a helluva price. Now I need to find one I can hold and see if it "feels" good. I noticed that you can get the mags w/an "extended" slam pad that would add some length to the grip if it felt too "short" for me.
I think I may be a little impressed with the KT pocket gun.
The Sig is probably better, the Colt is better, as is the Browning Robert mentiond...but for a "sometimes" SMALL carry gun, about $400 is all I'd care to spend. Shoot, if I'm going to spend more than that...I'm going to put the extra bucks in and just add to my Colt 1911 collection![:p] Thanks a bunch ya'll for the good info/input!

FWIW, I had a Guardian 380 and ultimately traded it in. Heavy, solid, reliable but because it is blowback operated, it has a bite and it hurt my index (trigger) finger too much to shoot it enough at the range to become reasonably proficient with it.
It only has a gutter sight so you really do have to learn how to aim and shoot it unless you only want to use it as a last ditch "belly gun".
The trigger pull is long and it snaps off harshly, causing the index finger to bang down and in off of the trigger guard. I couldn't get through 100 rounds without tearing a patch of skin clear off the first joint of my trigger finger. The third such wound in three trips to the range convinced me to unload it.0 -

They come around for $170. Even $100 from a friend. If it looks a bit beat up? No problem. It's stainless; an hour with 0000 and a bufrfing wheel, and it looks new.
The DAO model is the one I trust for small. A little thicker than the SA model.
High Standard has the tooling now, but if anything, it might want a new mainspring and a new firing pin spring. Those are the two home-schooled gunsmiths commonly snip to try to reduce the 14# trigger [it is 20# on their 45 BACKUP, also a handy back pocket pistol].
Kahr? Not a true DAO. SP101? Too heavy. Tomcat? Feed ramp issues [tilt barrel]. THP? Caliber is a little small [but at one time, it was a standard trucker's gun, so I've heard. Just enough to keep someone out of their cab]. AMT 45 Backup? A bit heavy. There were a few others, including a SA AMT 380 backup [slimmer] but I'd consider it unreliable, especially with that tiny grip safety on some models.
Any pocket semi-auto I'd trust would be DAO. A hammer strike on every trigger pull.
There is a Seacamp web site for their devotees. And you can buy from the factory; avoid the gouging.0 -

Years of carrying and shooting each - Never any problems.

Didn't you once say you had a Tomcat that cracked its frame, and wasn't covered under warranty?
I'd both for the Kel Tec. I've had mine for over a year, and no problems. Enough firepower, and comfortable enough to carry anywhere, all of the time.0 -
Yeah, Doc had a defective Tomcat.
