What does it mean to you?
A change of pace --- I would like to know what this means to you. Welcome any comments.
LIGHT
by Marvin Sartin
A wandering searching soul, looking
Seeking comfort, solace, meaning, commitment
In the darkness, not fearful but alone
Needing, hoping, desiring, wishing.
A dim glow emanating from behind a translucent obstacle
Warm, inviting, and alluring, yet distant and indistinct
Beckoning, calling, providing encouragement and comfort
A light in the darkness, a hope, a destination, a goal.
The filmy covering provided by the drifting clouds
Mutes the brightness and beauty of the full moon.
The soft warm light that bathes the earth
A welcome contrast to the stark black of the night.
A golden orb rising above the eastern horizon
Poised to journey across the night sky
Full orange that will turn to bright light
A great relief for the late traveler.
A tiny speck of distant light, softened by sheer curtains
Only a minute point in a vast sea of darkness
But a spark that warms a soul and quickens the step
A destination within sight, comfort and fulfillment.
The flicker of a campfire, pushes back the gloom
The sparks from the burning log light the night
The glow of the coals cast shadows over stark features
A warmth ebbs through the body as the soft light reflects the surroundings.
The flames that dance in the fireplace
Erupting embers, a host of fireflies shooting upward
The heat, the smoke, the sounds of burning wood, the light
Comfort, relax and secure those protected by it.
The glow of the neon, the sounds of the music
Bright lights or dim corners
Call to those who have a need
A place to be, something to share.
The dark of the night, the dread of the unknown
The misery of depression, the ache of an illness
The doubt of the insecure, the need of the recluse
Shrink from exposure to the light.
The path homeward, the goal toward success
A direction for the lost, a certainty to the unsure
A meaning for most, a necessity for some
A light, a direction, a goal, a meaning.
What, in your opinion, is the subject?
