    History certainly does repeat itself!!

"It appears we have appointed our worst generals to command forces, and our most gifted and brilliant to edit newspapers! In fact, I discovered by reading newspapers that these editor/geniuses plainly saw all my strategic defects from the start, yet failed to inform me until it was too late.

Accordingly, I'm readily willing to yield my command to these obviously superior intellects, and I'll, in turn, do my best for the Cause by writing editorials - after the fact."

    Robert E. Lee, 1863

Thats a great post! Send a copy to Kennedy and Polosi![;)]

...."General" in the White House has the authority as Commander In Chief, to conduct the/a war...Congress does not have that right...though they love to try and harm our troops in everyway they can.

I sure thought the Dims after getting in, would not have looked as unorganized as they've shown...they are at complete loss, all going in different directions not agreeing on how best for us to surrender and loose in Iraq...sure they will find a way though...[xx(]

I don't see generals running this war any more than they did Somolia in 92. No, it's the "generals" in congress that are running this war.

Lets face it. What General or any Govt. advisor to the Military ever
fought in a war that we won, that is serving today. Cant help but wonder if they are taught to win wars or how to appease the enemy with
stupid regulations on troop fighting no-no's. Does this enemy today have
"Rules of Engagement"? Dont look like it. Why should we have it?

Our CinC and Generals seem to really enjoy re-enacting the last major war we lost...

...using the same exact strategies as the last major war we lost...

...saying the exact same things as the last major war we lost...

Must not be any room for improvement when your ego is that big.

Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

I'm auditioning for the role of "Basic Student of History Who Can't Help But Notice How Our Military Leaders Have Allowed Themselves to Ignore Two Centuries Worth of Hard-Learned Lessons in How Not to Fight a War".

I understand it's a very popular role, though, so we'll have to see how many people try out.

    Good for you!

Just remember it's always easy to critique after the fact.[:D]
