    I would have been cautious when he thought the Cummings was an 8 cylinder.

    17-19 mpg at highway speeds with the A/C cranked up.

    I agree about being cautious with a dealer that does not know that the Cummins (no "g") is an I-6 engine.

    As for the fuel economy, I do not completely agree... 17-19 mpg is normal for those trucks equipped with an automatic transmission. Those that have the 6-speed manual do a bit better (20-23 mpg). I get 22.5 mpg @70 mph in my 2005 Ram 3500.

    Bert do you have any mods done to your truck? Although I hear of that mileage its not as common. Most don't do better than 20-21 tops. Typical auto does about 17-18 and manual an extra mpg or two, in my experience.

    My 98.5 auto does about 18.5 highway and the 6.7 is getting really crappy mileage about 14. It is a QC dually with 4.10's though.

    This guy must not be real smart. He left me negative feedback. Wrong move for his mistake. Ebay has the complaint and I just got off their live chat with a rep. They will investigate. I gave them Dodge's phone number and the file number of the truck. They said if all is true he will be suspended and my feedback erased. I am also calling the Ohio State Attorney General's office and filing a complaint. Since he purchased this at an auction there is a Federal form stating if he bought it "As Is " or with a warranty. I would have been shown the same papers upon purchase from him. If it said 'AS IS' I would not have purchased it. It was advertised with warrantee. Marc Danns office up there in Columbus, Ohio will find out. Anyway it goes, I am buying a new or almost new truck. But I do believe it will not from the seller of the last truck. If you plop down close to 30k you expect to get a warranty..

    Nope, no mods. My 2005 Ram 3500 is a QC, 4x4, 8' box, single-wheel versus a dually. I ordered it with the 3.73 axles and 6-speed manual tranny.

    I expext that on my next trip to Reno, I will get a bit better than 22.5 mpg, as I just recently replaced the original Michelin LTX LT265/70R17 tires with GoodYear Wranger AT Extreme LT315/70R17 tires. The GoodYear Wrangler AT Extreme has an O.D. of 34.5" versus the Michelin LTX at an O.D. of 31.7". At 70 mph, my engine rpm is now 1875 versus 2050... less rpm = less fuel burned[^]. Dodge charged me $90 to reset the speedo though[V].

    Select did you check out Dave smith up in Idaho He is by far the best Dodge dealer I have ever seen.
    they will pick you up at the airport and you can drive it home.

    I would have too. You left him a neg. feedback 2 days after he said he would find you another truck. Sounds like he was trying to do you right.

    This case is the exact reason why the seller should be FORCED to leave positive feedback or no feedback when a seller either pays are is forced to back out due to a problem beyond his control.

    You as the buyer, are intimidated into not leaving bad feedback when it is warranted which hurts future potential buyers from this seller.

    You bucked the trend and left bad feedback anyway even though retalitory feedback was a sure thing. Bravo! I hope ebay sees this as retalitory and removes it.

    Update: Just spoke to Seller when he called me. He told me why the truck was "engine restiction" and had a file with Dodge. Some moron put a chip on the truck to improve performance. The chip leaves a fingerprint in the computer and when taken in for service the dealer found it had the chip on it. Then it voids the warranty. Seller has taken the truck into the Dodge dealer and had it reviewed. It in fact has had a chip. Dodge dealer has called for a district rep to come look at the truck and see if the warranty can be issued again. Mechanic at Dodge dealer will do a check on the engine and if everything meets the reps criteria, then full warranty will be reissued with a stroke of a pen from the rep. Seller will contact me next week when rep comes in. I might still buy the truck.

    hmmm... I have a "chip" on my 2006 Charger and the manufacturer says it will not void the warranty.

    They do not use actual chips anymore, they just reprogram the cars computer. I have the superchips tuner which is probably what the former owner of that had as they have tuners for all the Cummins engines.

    I'll have to talk to them and see about the warranty!

    No. It is illegal for a dealership to void your warranty based solely on the fact that you have installed an aftermarket product. But always remove the tuning before going to a dealer for service. For information regarding denial of warranty coverage, go to the SEMA website.

    The manufacturer of the chip will market the chip to say it won't void the warranty.. but it does. Believe me tons of people on the cummins forum have found out the hard way. Dodge wants out of a vehicles warranty if they can find a reason. I am wondering if the rep will ok this truck I tried to buy. Dealer or Seller might have to buy him supper or something...

    slipgate if you read down the article it states if the product caused damage they can void the warranty. This truck just had 2 injectors installed for some reason at a cost of 1200 bucks. the seller said he will have to eat the cost BUT warranty may start over again and everything will be reinstalled and if something goes amuck later.. well I would have full warranty.

    I always remove the tune before I go in for any service but this "fingerprint" thing bothers me. I'll have to check it out on the chargerforums!

    The tune makes the car a lot more fun to drive. It has 350 hp stock, around 280 to the rear wheels, with the tune and an aftermarket CAI I get about 30+ more. It just makes the car so much more fun to drive! Especially when I turn off the traction control. So if the tune makes the car more fun to drive and it breaks because it is just so GD fun, does that count as the tuner causing the problem? hmmm....

    If you tune a Cummins engine, pump timimg, electrical, etc., Cummins will not honor the warranty! edit: unless it is a Cummins installed mod. Same thing if you run a K&N filter, due to the uncertainty of maintainence of the filter by the customer, it will void the warranty though Cummins.

    We(Cummins) build the ISB found in Dodge pick ups specificly to Chryslers specs. The engine is detuned to work with Dodges drivetrain. This is why most of the people you see turning up the ISBs start having trans problems and losing gears and clutches in the manual trans. That is why Dodge voids the warranty on the actual trucks when they have been modified. Even when you replace the exhaust with aftermarket it will void it, because it reduces exhaust restriction which allows the turbine side of the turbo work easier and create more boost/power which leads to higher cylinder pressures and eventually head gasket failures.

    If you are going to tune a Cummins, be prepared to bend over and take it when they tell you the warranty is void.

    I am sorry you are having so much trouble getting a truck you want. If there ever has been a mod on the truck the CM850 and CM2100 modules will show it has been there and there is no hiding it.

    I recommend finding a Model Year '06 or an early MY '07 that has an engine with out the EGR Cooler. We had so supplier issues on the MY '07 with EGR Coolers and I am unsure if they got all of them replaced. The MY '08 models will be the cream of the crop though if you want to wait a little longer.
